Would it be better to purchase an amethyst at a jeweler or on line?

  1. jeweler’s is my preference. i like to see how rich and deep the purple is before i buy amethyst, which is my birthstone. and i want to try it on to see if that hue looks good on me too.

  2. well I would say online or QVC channel. My mum and aunty are really into buying amethyst’s and they buy them for 1/4 of the price on the jewellery channel. SUpposidy the channel own their own mines so sell them at lower prices. Also jewellers tend to buy online and tv auctions.

  3. Amethysts are relatively inexpensive stones being that they are from the quartz family, so that being said I think you will find a better deal online, then at a local jewelry store. Very rarely will you see a poor quality amethyst, mostly the darker and richer purple they are the more expensive. You can even get green amethyst now, it is gorgeous. So shop online.
