Would a christian allow a pagan to work for them?

Hypothetical Question: You are a christian employer & find out an employee is a pagan. What would you do?


  1. why should he do anything? if the man or woman is a good, efficient worker what difference does it make which particular delusion they are labouring under?

  2. I personally don’t see why it would make any difference what belief system you have and pagans and christians have a lot in common. I’d continue to treat them the same way, but maybe ask questions to learn more about the religion

    (That will be the tag line of the series but in actuality the episodes would be bland and it would be canceled halfway through its first season)

  4. Are they doing a good job?
    If you kept them on before you knew, why would you get rid of them now?

  5. I would still employ them. The company’s success, and whether the employee is well suited and experienced for the position is more important than my own personal feelings. The workplace is a professional place. It is not a religious discussion group, although religious discussion may take place on occasion.
    However, some fundamentalist Christians feel differently and try to force their beliefs on others. I think that’s a sad thing.
    If that’s happening to you right now, I think it’s best to be honest about who you are and what you believe, while not forcing your beliefs on others.

  6. I don’t judge a person by their religion.
    Christian, Pagan, Jewish, Satanist…….. would not matter to me as long as there is respect in the workplace and work getting done!
    ** I also don’t believe in preaching to others about religion, so you would be ‘safe’ from this during work.

  7. Don’t care what their belief is. Someones religion has nothing to do with their work ethic. If he/she were a good candidate I would hire them.

  8. Yes, If I were a Christian ( and I am ) and owned a business ( I don’t ) and if I had a pagan employee, I would treat them as any other employee. If they did a good enough job, they would be promoted, just like any one else. If the Christian employee is a slacker and the pagan is the best worker we have, the pagan would benefit.
    In short, everyone would be treated fairly, but expected to do the jobs asked of them.

  9. In America, you can be sued for firing someone based on their religion.
    Christians are called by their leaders to be morally upstanding and compassionate, not judgemental and condemning. Jesus never gave them the right to cast out non-believers. Indeed, the survival of xtianity depends on converts from other religions.
    I am reminded of the “God warrior” from the Trading Spouses show on CMT. She went to a pagan household for a week, refused to participate in any family activities expected of her as the substitute mom, slighted the daughter in apportioning the gift money, insulted the family’s spiritual values by presenting them with engraved Bibles and then ran them down to her family and the tv crew once she was in her own home, calling the pagans “dark-sided” and godless.
    The pagan mom was kind, thoughtful, responsive to family requests and allocated the xtian family’s money fairly and thoughtfully.
    I would hope that no pagan employee would be treated with that disrespect shown by the supposed God Warrior to her pagan family.

  10. Of course I would. My God isn’t worried or fearful of little pagan gods or their servants and therefore neither am I.
    As to what I’d do, aside from pay them, I’d tell them about the true God, YAHWEH who alone forgives our sins.

  11. the employer had better. It’s illegal in the States to discrimminate against religion in the work force.
    Sadly I’ve seen it happen way too many times.

  12. Well, I’ve worked for Christian guys. I don’t tell about my beliefs unless I’m asked (wearing a Thor’s Hammer or a Valknut means that I get asked often). I’ve never been fired for being an Asatruar, nor harassed for it.
    Well, once a guy that was a staunch Catholic kept proselytizing me, so I quit. But apart from that, no problem with it.

  13. Nothing except allow them to take their holidays off if requested. It would be illegal to treat them differently because of their religion. And please please whatever you do, don’t proselytize them on their lunch breaks.

  14. Well you can’t discriminate based on religion so if you have already hired them you can’t fire them for that reason. And if its between a Pagan and a Christian you can’t pick the Christian if the Pagan is more qualified just even if you like the Christian’s beliefs better.
