Wicca & Pagan people……?

This is a question to those that are a Pagan, Wicca, or Witch of any sort. What do you guys do? Do you all keep a Book Of Shadows? Do you guys also have Covens and if so what is the name of one? I am very curious about this religion. It seems so interesting and there is not that much info on what you guys do.

Blessed be~

I have recently started my BOS and celebrate the Sabbats in quiet ways at home- lighting a fire in our fire pit, tossing in a few herbs, lighting candles around the house, etc. I recognize the Esbats and use my “spells” as prayer, which is what they are, really. I do attend a small circle of people of many different paths once a week or so if my schedule allows it. They often offer classes on different aspects of Paganism. For example, I’ve been studying Correllian Wicca through them, and this month’s classes are Dianic Wicca and Ritual, Candle Magic,… Read more »

I tried to keep a BoS but I can’t. Fragmented my minds they do know what needs to be known. I can’t sadly hence give my knowledge easily to the future but .. the ones who go through the same spiritual ordeal as me will. They will be as me broken mirrors. I co lead a little online teaching group. Not that much a coven much more just a study group. It is quite small indeed! Now word of advice there are many different paths within the pagan banner. Some old and some new… it isn’t easy but if you… Read more »

Merry Meet, If you are interested about learning Wicca and/or Witchcraft here are a few legitimate sources to glean knowledge from. One being Witchvox at http://www.witchvox.com/. Here you will gain knowledge through fellowship with other of like mind and knowledge through the countless articles posted. If this is not enough one could look into getting online training through the Sacred Mists at http://www.workingwitches.com/wicca/cour… or OZ Wicca at http://www.ozwicca.com/ , both are pretty decent for learning the Craft on the Web. Also if you are close enough to a group that specializes in education and development like the SCWF try and… Read more »

I am an Ecletic Pagan Witch. I do keep a Book of Shadows. Some witches work in covens and others work alone. For long time I worked alone or w/ my husband when he was here(he deploys a lot). Just this past year I joined a Yahoo group and found a small circle I work w/. I prefer a circle to a coven. Less formal which means less power tripping.

There is a lot of information about Wicca out there, if you only look. The biggest problem is that Wiccans & pagans in general follow as many paths as Christians. Each coven follows its own path, even if it is affiliated with others.

Here is a webpage that I found that explains a lot & may even be able to put you into contact with practitioners of the Craft near you, so you can learn more:

Okay, Wicca is a nature-oriented, shamanistic religion. Wiccans believe in the Divine as both male and female energies. Some are monotheistic in that they see the Divine as one entity, embracing both male and female energies in one. others are dualtheistic in that they believe in a God and a Goddess as separate entities. others are polytheistic in that they believe in several Gods/Goddesses. Still, others are pantheistic in that they believe the Divine spirit resides IN everything. *note* you can be a combination of the above. Wiccans revere nature…we do not ‘worship’ trees. We respect everything in nature and… Read more »

They do spells. But think of spell as prayers, only done actively, using insence, candles, and whatever props meet your needs. We celebrate full moons, equinoxes, Samhein, and Yule. (halloween and Christmas)

Book of Shadows is a spiritualy journal. Its where you keep your thoughts, and rituals.

Covens are a group of witches you practice with. Much like church.

The name of a coven i used to belong to, thats public – Circle of the Blue Moon.

Try reading a Wiccan site instead of Yahoo. Much more reliable.

As I am a practising solitary witch I do not take part in any coven work. That’s not to say that I wouldn’t, I just haven’t been able to find one around my area that I am comfortable in. My personal book of shadows is still kind of in my head as I have no need to write it and hide it like they did in the burning times. Other than that, I just follow the basic faith priniciples of wicca..ie: dual deities and duality in general, karmic law, natural choices when possible.

Not a simple or short question.

A Book of Shadows is simply a spiritual journal. I have several filled up.

I have worked with covens and solitaire. There is much to learn from both.

Pick up a book called Drawing Down the Moon (M. Adler). It is a wee bit dated but should fascinate you.

Feel free to E-mail me if you have more specific questions.
