I’m sorry, I need to see statistics before I buy this line.

It was harder being an open Wiccan in the 1980s. I was there.

Who knows, it was trendy in the 90’s and early 2000’s I think because of movies like The Craft and shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Charmed. I still think it’s cool! The lastest spiritual trends are either more Native American-y or about aliens coming in 2012 from what I’ve noticed. They’re all fun I think!

Wicca is only 60 years old.

Most folks who have heard of Wicca just heard about it in the past two decades. It’s hard to put down anything you have never heard of at all.

That said, most of the reason Wicca gets put down is because so many folks on places like Y!A who say that they are Wiccan say obviously brain-dead things like “Wicca is ancient”, “ancient pagans never did human sacrifice”, etc.

It isn’t they used to burn so called witches. In fact the old religion of the earth goddess is enjoying something of a revival.

A Wiccan got in my taxi recently, and told me all about Wicca. The freak bored me to tears. If he wanted to object against organised religion there are more sensible ways than joining one.

I haven’t notice that. There is nothing to put down it is the most innocuous religion ever

I don’t think you’re correct. Wiccans are not being persecuted in 2010 more than ever.

I don’t recall any stonings, burnings at the stake, tarring & feathering or dunkings making the newspaper recently.

This ain’t your granpappy’s Salem.
