Why has there been such an explosion of interest in the occult and vampirism among young people?

When I go to Barnes and Noble for instance, I notice that in the teen section it is full of books dealing with the dark side, and young girls especially seem enamoured of the occult and vampirism.

  1. I wouldn’t say the occult, I would say Vampires and Werewolves.
And it is because of the popularity of Twilight (at least for teens; for others it is True Blood)

  2. Today’s youth are no different from prior generations. Mistrust of elders and a longing for the supernatural lead to explorations in spirituality; Mistrust of elders and a longing for intimacy lead to explorations into friendships, bonding, and intimacy.
Just as television is not representative of life today, neither was television in the 1950s.

  3. I hope this is all a fad, there is more to life than good looks.. i mean, isn’t there like, good sex?
I dont even feel like fuckin girlies no more cause of this shit, especially the new trends, they make my little brainy burst with condolances to bodily function.. ad this seems like it’ll never end
    like you want it to
    im giving up. :sparks bowl:
oo that reminded me of that shit again.. the more obsure works though
god damn. dam it all (BOOM) … thats right
dont mess with my computers yall bitches!!! i hate that shit.. kinda.. naw it just why i always feel alone in the world
just kidding. laugh guys its good
    or fade away, arighty….. peace.

  4. Because many of today’s youth are looking for direction and love that they never received from the broken homes they came from. And some parents are lost and don’t know any better to not let their kids get involved in such rubbish. God bless.

  5. Because Satan’s wicked rule over mankind today, Proverbs 29:2; and 28: 28, he has been thrown out of heaven, down to the earth, knowing he has a short time Revelation 12:9
God will provide deliverance for obedient ones: John 3: 16; Hebrews 2:14, 15 Salvation is from God through Jesus’ ransom sacrifice Salvation is possible only through Jesus sacrifice Acts 4:12 One must work energetically to attain salvation Luke 13: 23, 24; 1Timothy 4: 10; Life is then given as a gift by God through his Son 1 John 4:9, 14; Roman 6:23

  6. God’s grace is being removed in various stages and by varying degree as time passes. This is one of the ways He blesses us in that the closer we get to living our desires, the clearer our true motives are revealed. And the way to salvation is paved with the recognition of our selfishness and our bondage to it.
As sin begets sin begets destruction, the freer we are to follow our own ways the more future generations are prone to go even deeper into this freedom from God’s constraint. As each generation becomes more accustomed to denying the level of sin their parents were allowed to live, they too in their turn live through an even deeper level of self destruction. As generation follows generation, bearable sinful states become the norm by which each new generation is launched into the unknown depths of their own frontier.
We live in the maturity of time that was spoken of in Romans:
Rom 1:28-32 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; (29) Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, (30) Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, (31) Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: (32) Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
Though, to lesser degrees, it has always been like this…I think that it has become the norm now to find anything that is objectionable, selfish and destructive and make it a lifestyle. Because of television and now the internet, it has become extremely easy for young, unformed people to seriously dabble in the fullblown face of what we call evil. Not just dancing or playing cards or wearing sexy clothes, our youth is faced with a vast array of “evil” to adopt as self image. Vampires (drinking blood, killing, eating flesh, distorted sexual connotations, super strength, immortality, death, hatred of Christ etc) have become a symbol and indication of just how far this process has been allowed to develop.
It seems modern youth are being given a peek into what could be called the pureness of evil, and many are jumping headlong into it without even a nod to what it truly represents. If there were such a thing as vampires, werewolves etc., I believe many would still just step off the precipice without qualms. As there are no such things, playthings such as movies, clubs, books etc have taken the place of this lack and mankind has always found a way and justification to feed any inner desires we may have, no matter how juvenile, foolish or dangerous. So, sin begets sin which ends in destruction…which begets more sin and on it goes.
Vain imaginings aren’t as tenuous and intangible as we think when we are young. Those “dreams” of grandeur, power and hatred are actually a mirror into the true state of what God has allowed us to become in order that we might see our own evil natures. As time marches on, we will find even more destructive things to identify with and what is happening today will seem as quaint a “disobedience” as rock and roll was in the fifties. What we will become used to and call harmless in the generations to come will make today’s teenage degradation look like kindergarten.
All on the very wide path to what the old time preachers called perdition. Most of us are going to hell in a fury, but because it’s in a handbasket….it’s such a pleasant ride.
