They seem to accept me being Buddhist, but then get all huffy about science and “no proof, NO PROOF” when I say I accept reincarnation too.

I don’t push my beliefs on anyone, and the way I see it if I’m wrong oh well, I wont remember, and if I am right then oh well, I still wont remember.

By the way, I don’t care what people think at all, I’m just curious why people think the way they do sometimes.

Because if they believed it it would really affect their present lifestyle; which they don’t like. They are actually uncomfortable with the idea and want to feel okay with the way they are living, so they suppress what they don’t want to think about. Its like if I tell someone I’m vegetarian they do the same thing (without me trying to convert them at all). They also haven’t read Ian Stevenson’s research. They want to live for this life and don’t want to consider their future…Its like the college student who doesn’t want to study, parties his way through school,… Read more »

Because some people believe that there is no way that god would make you suffer twice or three times when he promiced that you would get one life and then go to heaven.. They think of it as a “not again” kinda thing.

Just do what feels right for you monkeyhavetoshaveto. It dosen’t matter what others think if it feels right for you.

I’m not religious but I’ve started to discover spiritual things and it feels right for me. I feel at peace and relaxed since I have. We have to find our own paths.

It’s because it’s not part of their culturally acceptable concepts. I don’t believe in reincarnation either, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen, nor does it require my “faith” which is an over hyped concept in the West. No matter how much faith I have I can’t change reality. The only faith that counts is faith in ones self. I like Buddhist in general, and I think they’re on to something, but I choose not to be one. I think all that’s valid for people comes from their experience and by Buddhist rules my Dharma has put me in this… Read more »

If you stand back and look at reincarnation from a logical standpoint. There is really no way it can be real. If reincarnation were real then the population could not rise, sure it would rise and fall gradually with years but I am talking about a major population growth occurring over the last couple thousand years. There are roughly 6.8billion people on the earth now, i bet a few thousand years ago this was not so. If reincarnation existed, there would be a steady rise and decline in the world population, since this is not the case, it is only… Read more »

People have minds which are conditioned to believe and doubt.

Its best to be sensitive when engaging in these conversations. Then maybe some understanding may arise.

There’s enough conflict in this world. Go beyond challenging the beliefs of others and practice meditation on your own.

Well, some people think differently. Just because they think you are wrong does not mean they do not respect you. I think Christians are wrong, but I respect them. Not on here, of course, but in real life. You know, where people have feelings and tolerance.

I wouldn’t expect people to respect my decision to believe in pink fairies that grant wishes. So I don’t know why you’re surprised that people don’t accept your random made-up beliefs.

People are quick to Judge , in the end most of us wants to believe what would most suit our needs and desires.

We cannot prove Eternalism , Annihilation , Creationism , Reincarnation , Rebirth.

Because if you look at it in a serious. logical manner, I think it’s safe to say that Christianity sounds normal compared to reincarnation.
