Why do Christians still think a Psychic or a Medium is evil?

I was told by my Pastor that the New Testament fulfills the Old Testament, or in other words, CHRISTIANS are not bound by the Old Testament because Jesus came and saved us from the Old Testament, therefore, we Christians are only bound by the New Testament because Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament for us. So, with that said, then Christians can be Psychics and Mediums, and Gay, etc., and NOT be sinning. The reason I am asking all of this is because I had a discussion with my Pastor about the garments he wears on the altar during service. I asked him why he does not wear the garments specified in detail in the Old Testament. He answered that the Old Testament fulfills the New Testament. This is just some “food for thought” for all of you Christians and non-Christians out there.

  1. Because anything that is different and almost amounts to something that is supernatural, then those christ-nazis bust out of their caves and freak out.
Almost like PETA at a winter fashion show.

  2. Umm, no. The perfect words of the Christian god are there for a reason. Your perfect god would not just make statements and then say, “oh you guys are let out of those.” That makes no sense for a perfect being to go back on it’s own word.
Chew on that for a few minutes.

  3. I don’t.
I just think psychics are frauds.
But if they can make money off of gullible people, more power to them. Ahhhh, the beauty of capitalism!

  4. wow. that’s such an excuse. it’s amazing what christians can think up to keep their religion still going. if it’s doesn’t count anymore, then why is it still in the bible? why do christians still have to learn about it, and why are the things you said are cancelled out still frowned upon?

  5. The New Testament does replace the Old Testament. Read Romans and read Revelations. Revelation lists what type of people will end up in the eternal lake of fire. Withcraft is one of them.

  6. Anything that has the remotest possibility of being a threat to the religion is automatically written in as evil . sometimes these phobias are wise sometimes the are foolish.
peace it takes all kinds to make a world

  7. OOPs…better put that thinking cap back on….Jesus fulfilled the law….we no longer have to keep the law to be saved..we are now saved by Grace, which means asking God to forgive us, accepting the sacrifice, Jesus, made on the cross,,,turning from our sins and living for him…..
However, turning to the occult instead of God is still a sin and so is being Gay. Read the New Testament and find out what you need to do to be saved, would be a much better use of your time than rejoicing in your sins. That’s some food for thought for you.

  8. first aobut hte psychics, they are connsidered “evil”because by going to one, you are going to sommebody other than God for help in your life.
As for the NT, OT thing, if Jesus fulfilled the OT, why did He refer to the OT so much in his teachings? No, the Kosher laws weren’t upheld, but most of the other things were. Does this mean that we don’t have to obey the Ten commandments and can therefore go on killing sprees?

  9. sorry, but your pastor is wrong. you can’t just draw a line between the old testament and the new and say ”ok, we don’t have to follow any of this anymore.” that’s easy believism. if that were true, what would be the point in reading the old testament at all? some things we are obligated to follow, other’s we’re not. seriously, find a different church. your pastor sounds like one of these guys that sent $50 to some organization and got the ”license” (if you can even call it that) he paid for, without ever studying theology, beyond what he wanted to read. believe it or not, this happens. i very seriously doubt his credibility and/or education.
as far as what you asked about though, those things are forbidden in the new testament as well.

  10. The New Testament does not cancel out the Old Testament. We just don’t have to follow certain laws anymore like sacrificing animals etc because that is just not necessary anymore since Christ came and died for our sins and brought some other changes. That does not mean the OT is not impt anymore. And no, the ten commandments still stand and there is references in the NT against those things you mentioned above.

  11. Jesus said………Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Is your pastor a Christian????? I would really think about that….
Also consider that which is and was and always will be God’s law…. disregard the laws of man in your consideration, oh and food for thought “traditions are not law”…… check out the comandments

  12. The bible teaches “Once Saved Always Saved” However, the bible also teaches that we can earn or lose rewards in this life and in the next life for the things we do now. God will discipline a believer who is living in sin, up to and including physical death. Faith is not a license to sin, God will deal most urgently with those who belong to Him. Faith is a lifelong process of being refined and made “Christ like” by the Holy Spirit who indwells us. Regarding believers who sin, Paul states: 1 Cor.3:14-15 “If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames.” Christ Jesus did not “Do Away” with the law, He simply did away with the penalty of breaking the law. He became the fulfillment of the law, simply said: He is greater than the law, the law is subject to Him, He has overcome the law. This does not mean we can throw away the law, rather, now we look to Him, our Savior, He is the law. When we follow Him, He will perfect us in keeping His laws. He receives the Praise for doing His work in us. Through Him, we are no longer bound by the law, we are sanctified through faith and by Gods Grace. God Bless You…Peace.
