Why do christians shun astrology even tough god supposedly made all the universe?

One more contradiction of the bible.. you think they would be more open to their gods own creation.

  1. Because astrology is stupid and fake. I doubt the position of Saturn has anything to do with my mood today.
If you mean astronomy, then yeah, I can agree with you. It can be stupid.

  2. Actually the Bible says that the arrangement of the heavens can be used for “signs and portents.”
The reason I don’t buy into most astrology is that most of its proponents seem to be making it up as they go along. If there were some comprehensive science to it that I could get my mind around, I’d certainly be willing to look at it.

  3. They should embrace it.
Jesus Christ was born of the Virgin Mary on Dec. 25 in Bethlehem his birth was announced by a star in the east followed by 3 Kings.
This birth sequence is totally astrological.
The star in the east is Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky. On December 24 it aligns with the 3 brightest stars in Orion’s belt. They are called now what they were called then “The 3 Kings” These 4 stars point to the location of the “sun rise” on December 25. This is why the 3 kings follow the star in the east in order to locate the sun’s rise or the birth of the sun. The Virgin Mary is the constellation Virgo, Virgo in Latin means virgin. The symbol for Virgo is the altered M. Virgo was also referred to as the house of bread. Symbolized by Virgo holding a shaft of wheat. Bethlehem literally translates to “house of bread” Bethlehem is a reference to the constellation Virgo a place in the sky not the city on earth.
During the winter solstice the sun reaches its lowest point on December 22 where it appears to sink no more for three days. The shortening of days and the end of crops symbolized death to the ancients, the death of the sun. By December 22 the suns death was complete. The sun then resides in the vicinity of the Southern Cross. The sun has died on the cross and has stayed dead for 3 days. (Sinks no more into the southern hemisphere) On December 25 the sun moves 1 deg. north for the fist time. Marking the new birth of the sun. Foreshadowing longer days and the warmth of spring. The sun, died on the cross was dead 3 days only to be resurrected or born again. This is why Jesus and numerous other mythical figures share the crucifixion 3-day death, resurrection and the birth day Dec. 25. It is the suns transition before it shifts its direction back into the northern hemisphere. Bringing spring and thus salvation. However they did not celebrate the resurrection of the sun until the spring equinox, where the day overpowers the darkness as daylight becomes longer than night. Easter. The revitalizing conditions of spring emerge. Jesus is just a solar Myth

  4. They don’t deny the truth in it.
    Psalms 19:1
“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.”
What some believe is that they put their future in God’s hands thus to look to your future in the sky is to not trust God with your future.

  5. God didn’t make astrology. But He did make the stars. Do you even read what you write ? If not, believe me, I understand why. 🙂

  6. The short answer is Christians look to the person who made (not supposedly) the universe instead of the objects in the universe.
What is the contradiction? What verse says you are supposed to seek out astrologers?
Btw, Christ was not born on December 25.

  7. I don’t see a connection between astrology and God making the universe. The position of the stars at the time you are born is not important.

  8. It tends toward idolatry because it attributes power to the stars that rightly belongs to God. Furthermore it distracts us from studying God’s revelation in the Bible. That being said, I don’t absolutely condemn astrology. It is a negative thing, but you can certainly be saved and still follow it. Something akin to smoking or drug abuse.

  9. Astrology is has nothing to do with recognizing creation…but more with worshiping creation. Astrology is defined as “the study of the movements and relative positions of celestial bodies interpreted as having an influence on human affairs and the natural world.”
If the stars are simply created and inanimate objects, then it logically follows they have no influence on human affairs and/or the natural world.
God created the ‘heavens’ to declare His glory, not to be ‘divined’ for some hidden meaning.
Your question is based on a false premise, and a misunderstanding of the very word.

  10. mans version is NOT the Lords version, this is why He said….
    Isaiah 47
13Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee.
14Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it.
    Deuteronomy 18:10
There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch.
The words of Jesus are the true Spirit of Prophecy,
not the newspaper. Read the words in red, that is your

  11. That can be right, for example when we notice that people under Capricorn are outspoken, honest and very smart that’s true, because the position of the moon, gravitation etc impacted them when they were in the womb through the brain development.
    It’s not against the Bible.

  12. Astrology is considered divination in the Bible.
Every time some idiot does something stupid in the Bible (like condemn divination) it is taken as blind faith that the person is somehow divine and correct since they make an appearance in the Bible.

  13. Nope, no contradiction. You just are wrong. Astronomy is worth study and the Vatican has one of the best and oldest observatories in the world.
    But as for Astrology….
    1) Astrology is fortune telling and very simply is forbidden in the Bible.
    2) Astrology is for those that want to follow Satan not God.
    3) Astrology is no different than witchcraft, fortune telling etc. and those that practice it will never enter heaven.
Prof. Daniel B. Wallace (wrote the textbook on ancient Greek & Greek translation) in an interview in the book “The Case for the Real Jesus” says “It’s disturbing that when it comes to the Christian faith, people don’t really want, or know how, to investigate the evidence”, I can see by your comment that you don’t want to know.
I hope someday you get over your predetermined answers and actually search for what is true. Men like Josh McDowell, C.S. Lewis and Lee Stroebel who were actually hostile to Chritianity and others such as Malcolm Muggridge, Alister McGrath and Anne Rice are examples of people that were atheists until they investigated the Christian faith and then became Christians and also proclaimers of God and Jesus. There are many out there that only want their preconceived view of truth and then there are those that are willing to look with an open mind. I have seen so many that are determined that the Christian God doesn’t exist and do all sorts of maneuvers to reinforce their preconceived world view.
I hope your mind comes out of the dark someday.

  14. as Christians we place all of our Faith and Hopes in ONE God the Father,One Son, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, we are not to spread ourselves thin so to speak going from so called god to god (all mortals that have died, but couldn’t fathom not being remembered), there is a commandment for this very reason, God Created ALL, and that includes the heavens i.e. stars/planets etc….He Is the Only God, not pagan or man made “astrology” inspired from satan to sway/decieve people away from the Truth…God Bless
