As a rationalist, I would adivse you not to waste time in learning astrology. There is no scientific basis for astrology. At the most it must be based on the statistical theory of probability. People like Swami Vivekananda have not recommended astrology. You can spend the time in better ways.
I can cite a few short comings of astrology. In astrology, sun is treated as a planet but now we know it is a star. Similarly, the moon is treated as a planet in astrology. We know that it is a satellite. And there are so many moons rounding Saturn and Jupitier, which have also to be considered. Persons born on the same date and same time do not attain the same levels in life. The list goes on,
