  1. you do know christianity and budism. are different belifes right?
its like hating pie. then entering in a pie eating contest, in which if you win, you get a month supply of pie.

  2. Siddhartha by Herman Hesse is full of wisdom and concepts that the Buddha would approve of. It’s all about finding your own path and revealing your true Self.
It is also an amazing book and is the reason I stopped following Catholicism and started following myself.

  3. I suggest starting at the beginning by first learning about the history of Siddartha Gautama and what he set out to do and why. The very core of Buddhism lies in the Four Noble Truths, so learn those next. He also has the 12 steps of Dependent Origination http://www.buddhanet.net/funbud12.htm
    and the Five Precepts http://www.thebigview.com/buddhism
From there you can explore the many schools of thought in Buddhism, and take from them what you find to be wise.

  4. Starting with the Discourses or the Dhammapadas is like walking in to the middle of a movie. You have to know where the Buddha was coming from first, what his goals were, and how he eventually became enlightened and found a path to stop the cycle of suffering.
