When praying to whatever god(s) you believe in, do you bow, kneel and generally effect an aura of subservience?

it never ceases to amaze me, the cowardliness of religious believers
IF I did believe in a god, I would stand tall, look it in the eye and say what I believed. This bending and scraping is beyond pathetic!

  1. Praying simply means talking to God. You don’t have to get in any sort of special position to pray. God is always looking forward to hearing from you. First make sure you are saved. Please pray a sincere prayer witha ll your heart admitting to Jesus you are a sinner. Have full faith that His blood washes away all your sins and accept His gift of eternal life. I pray that God blesses you with peace. Amen.

  2. Of course not, Flying Spaghetti Monster is a supreme being and He knows it!
He doesn’t need constant reassurance by the means of groveling mortals… seriously, any deity which demands worship has self-confidence issues.

  3. i most often just lay on the floor, never really neal, sumtimes i may be walking, driving, working or whatever…..i pray all the time so what i may bedoing at the moment…one never can tell

  4. Yes, to some extent that is what i do, but i see it as akin to Yoga. If i do Surya Namaskara, i would prostrate myself in the middle of each half of a round, but i’m not showing subservience to anyone. It’s about focussing my mind. If i habitually kneel during prayer, which is difficult to manage in my current church, the effect is to reinforce the habit of getting into a receptive state of mind during prayer.
But suppose it is about subservience, since i presume it is for some people. If you had really hurt someone you loved, would you not wish to show some kind of contrition? You wouldn’t just carry on as if nothing had happened. Well, every time i sin, it hurts someone who loves me. Why would i not want to show sincere penitence?
