Whats the difference between psychologists and psychiatrists?

I’ve read articles about the differences but they all used far too much technical jargon for me to understand. If someone could please dumb it down?

  1. psychologyist do lab work and psychiatrist deals with your mind and they can also prescribe you medicine too and and a psychologist can`t.

  2. Definition of psychology:
the science of the mind or of mental states and processes.
    Definition of psychiatry:
the practice or science of diagnosing and treating mental disorders.
    So…
It seems kind of like psychology is the actual science. So if I were to study, let’s say, ADHD and autism, I would be a psychologist. But if I were to sit and talk with a person with problems and say, “you have ADHD and autism: I’m going to give you some… ____” I would be a psychiatrist.
That’s actually something I’ve always wondered about, but I’ve never bothered to actually look it up.

  3. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who specialize in mental health. They prescribe medication to people who need it and generally keep track of their symptoms, moods, behavior, etc. Psychologists study the behavior of people and usually have a PhD. Some work with mentally ill people and some don’t. Many of them provide psychotherapy for people who have mental illnesses, but they cannot prescribe medication and often (at least in my experiences) are very active in the care of the person.
