I wasn’t asking if I would go to hell or not. I know more of Heaven then you do, stop badgering people about your religion that was written hundreds of years ago.

  • Pagan: Middle English, from Late Latin paganus, from Latin, civilian, country dweller, from pagus country district

    —noun
    1. one of a people or community observing a polytheistic religion, as the ancient Romans and Greeks.
    2. a person who is not a Christian, Jew, or Muslim.
    3. an irreligious or hedonistic person.

Wicca is a polytheistic religion, so it falls under the category of pagan. Wicca is just one of numerous pagan religions, all with differing beliefs and practices. Wicca is a modern day religion being only about 60 years old, but a religion nonetheless. Pagan doesn’t necessarily describe a religion but rather a spiritual viewpoint and a lifestyle.

  • Pagan is any polytheistic religion, ranging from the faiths of ancient civilizations to modern ones like Hinduism and Shinto, to neopagan faiths like Wicca. Wicca is just one kind of paganism.

  • Hello,

The age. Paganism has been around since time in memorial but Wiccan is a neopagan religion about my age. It was started in 1954 by a British civil servant, Gerald Gardner.

    Cheers,

    Michael Kelly

  • Wiccans are Pagans but Pagans are not all wiccans.

A pagan is a person who does not follow a major world religion.

Having said that , many would say the a Pagan is someone who does not believe in God.

Wiccans claim to follow modern witchcraft. Woooooooh!

  • Paganism is a generic term that refers to all non-Abrahmic religions.

It often refers to polytheistic religions, but not necessariy so. There are hundreds, maybe thousands, of religions that could be classified as pagan.

    Wicca is one particular religion.

  • Pagans cover a widespan of varying beliefs, most often they are earth based. Wicca is just one particular brand of paganism and gets the most attention considering it’s recognized as a religion by the US Government and has some loosely applied “rules”.

    ADD:
Pagans aren’t always polytheistic. Actually many I know are more dualistic then polytheistic. And it’s very possible to be pagan and atheistic.

    ADD:
Witchcraft is not something “followed”, it’s a spiritual practice which can be used in any spiritual path or religion. Which means that it’s not just Wiccans who use witchcraft. For that matter, some Wiccans do not practice witchcraft at all.

  • Pagan is a broader, more general term, denoting any sort of polytheistic religion. Wiccan is a particular polytheistic religion, from pre-Christian Western Europe.

  • All Wiccans are Pagan, but not all Pagans are Wiccan.
    Kinda’ like blue:
all blue is a color, but not all colors are blue.

  • There is no difference; anything thats is about Jesus, The Father, or Holy Spirit is paganism. If you die a pagan or wiccan hell is your destiny.
