What year did Jeep Cherokee's start having third eye brake lights?

What year, or range of years did Jeep Cherokee’s start having third eye brake lights, on the rear?

  1. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) concluded that Center High Mounted Stop Lamps (CHMSLs) reduce accidents and injuries. As a result, the NHTSA now requires all new cars (since 1986) and all new light trucks (since 1994) to have a third brake light.
So you can assume they went on the year mandated, 1986.

  2. My 93 XJ does not have one …..
