What the diff bettween wicca and witchcraft?

ok so what the diff…and what is wicca and what is witchcraft? and what do you do in witchcraft that you dont do in wicca? what do you do in wicca that you dont do in witchcraft? and im talking about the wicca that doesnt use witchcraft in it.

  1. i think wicca is just a type of witchcraft but it’s more of a religion than just making potions and stuff

  2. wiccans believe in the power of medicine, recarnation, and they worship nature. (the ones who don’t use witchcraft)

  3. Wicca is a belief system that involves witchcraft. Witchcraft can be all kinds of stuff that isn’t Wicca.
I’m sure a Wiccan will turn up and answer your question in greater detail than I have.

  4. wicca is more of a religion, where they do more healing things, thikngs to make the peace, and they were even considered healers long ago, witchcraft is more of a you can do things in the dark arts, they can be closer defined as evil, and you can do more, have more power with it, i prefu=er to stick to the wicca ideas rather than the witchcraft, its nicer.

  5. Wicca is an occult religion. Witchcraft is a terminology used by the early Christians for people who practiced Satanic (Pagan) magiks during the Inquisition back in the Dark Ages.

  6. witchcraft is a is a type of spells that people do and i dont believe that it works and wicca’s are people that have like 1/10 witch in them

  7. All Wiccans are witches, but not all witches are Wiccans. All Wiccans are Pagans, but not all Pagans are Wiccans. Finally, some witches are Pagans, but some are not.

  8. Witchcraft is ancient – when there were druids there were witches… Wicca has only been around since the 40’s. Witchcraft is free, we bow to no one. Some honor gods but many do not. Witchcraft is NOT a set rule of beliefs, it is no religion but a way of life. Wicca worships the god and the goddess, it is an organized religion with set rules and expectations.
Not all witches are Wiccan, and not all Wiccan’s are witches.
There is no long ago for Wicca, it is a neo religion. Witches practice the healing, herbology and such.

  9. answer: Wicca is a religion, witchcraft is the practice of raising energy and directing it towards a specific goal.
Wiccans celebrate the turn of the year and life with holidays and rituals. They work to make the world better and commune with their deities – like any other religion.
Not all Wiccans are witches and not all witches are Wiccans.

  10. Wicca is polytheistic and spiritual. Witchcraft is just that, a craft. A witch can be any religion he or she wants since it is not a religion. Wicca believes in two or more deities so Wicca can’t follow Christianity. Not all Wicca are witches since many witches are Atheist, Christian and other religions, both Monotheistic as well as Polytheistic. Hope that helps. Since Wicca is a generalization, like paganism, I can’t answer for all branches of the faith. If you need a general explanation read the books by Scott Cunningham. He puts things in an easy to understand description.
    Hope this helps.

  11. Wicca is a religion that follows the Wiccan Rede, “An ye harm none, do what ye will,” and the 13 Principles of Wiccan Belief. We believe in and worship a God and Goddess plus whatever pantheon we feel calls to us (some worship the God and Goddess without others, but some feel a call to worship the Roman gods, Greek gods, Celtic gods, a combination of all gods, etc.). We celebrate the eight Sabbats and the thirteen Esbats of the year. The religion was started sometime in the 50s by Gerald Gardner, and since then has become the fastest growing religion in America.
Witchcraft is the craft of the wise from the Anglo-Saxon word wicce (Pronounced witchay. Wicca shares this root) which means wise one. It is a craft that is as old as humankind. A witch is someone who is wise to the fact that a person does magic simply by placing his or her will upon the world and directs the energy in the world to create change. Everyone does magic. Witchcraft is simply the conscious direction of energy to change the world. A witch is bound by the natural laws of the world because magic is nothing more than the natural energy of the world. A witch cannot fly or take away someone’s free will because both break the laws of nature. A witch is bound by no religious laws except those of the religion he or she chooses to follow since witchcraft is not a religion. One can be a Wiccan witch, a Pagan witch, a Hellenic witch, a Jewish witch, or even a Christian witch.
Since Wicca is highly compatible with witchcraft, and often encourages the use of witchcraft in most Traditions, many Wiccans are also witches. This leads people to assume that all Wiccans are witches and all witches are Wiccan. Neither is a true statement. Some of the older Traditions of Wicca insist upon calling it the religion of Witchcraft and calling the members Witches. The term Witches is not quite the same as witches though. The Witches are actually Wiccans who like to use that word as their name. The witches are actually practitioners of witchcraft. The capitalization is important. I personally think that Wiccans shouldn’t address Wicca as Witchcraft only because it creates a ton of confusion, but to each his own. Not all Wiccans are witches, and not all witches are Wiccan.
    Venus Bless.
