What keeps your faith strong?

I am working on a paper about spiritual reflections and the formation of beliefs.
If you wouldn’ t mind taking a few seconds to answer these questions, that would be wonderful!!
Describe your spiritual beliefs.
What were the primary influences that led you to believe?
Have you experienced a significant spiritual awakening?

  1. I was born in a religious Christian home I had no choice! Then I learn that the Bible God is full of crap…and I dropped out!
Proverbs 31:6-7 (NIV) Give beer to those who are perishing, wine to those who are in anguish; let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no more.
If you don’t like to drink I can discourage you from drinking, too, but remember that the Bible favors drinking over abstinence… God is going to serve refined wine in the Afterlife… Jesus was very fond of drinking… he was accused of being a wine drinker and a friend of wine drinkers… By the way, his first recorded miracle was to transform water into wine… That tells you a lot when you see Jesus doing first things first!!! The first thing that Righteous Noah did when he landed his Ark on Mount Ararat was to make wine and get drunk with his grandson Canaan they were both naked … The first thing that Righteous Lot did with God’s full approval even in the NT when he was having sex with his young virgin daughters was to get drunk!!!
Zakariah 9:17 (KJV-1611) For how great is his goodness, and how great is his beauty! Corn* (*distilled corn, of course!) shall make the young men cheerful, and new wine the maids.
The Holy Word of God the Bible promotes drinking!!! I didn’t find any warning label or advice to drink responsibly… The Bible advice is to drink to make you cheerful and until you forget all your misery! Some prudish preachers got the idea that God hates drinking… NO WAY!!!
God the Holy Ghost inspired the Bible writers to tell us like it is when God the Father wakes up in the morning with a terribly hangover ready to punish somebody …
Psalm 78:65 “THEN THE LORD AWOKE AS FROM SLEEP, AS A MAN WAKES FROM THE STUPOR OF WINE”*
(*)Yeah… red eyes… vomiting all over… cursing like Hell… and lacking good judgment ready to begin a day of killing innocent babies and making his chosen people Israel starve to death in the Land Flowing with Milk and Honey!
Jeremiah 4:10 10 Then I said, “Ah, Sovereign LORD, how completely you have deceived this people and Jerusalem by saying, ‘You will have peace,’ when the sword is at our throats.”
Ezekiel 14:9 (KJV) And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.
Jeremiah 11: 14 “Do not pray for this people nor offer any plea or petition for them, because I will not listen when they call to me in the time of their distress.
Yeah… when God is recovering from his hangover or what have you that makes him act like that… he is out of control and you need to be alert…

  2. -my family
-yeah, i was like “none of this makes sense with Science” when i was like 14, but I knew in my Heart that God was real, so I prayed harder than ever, and read my bible. This lead to my spiritual awakening. Many questions I had were answered and I became Closer with Christ.
Lazar, your verse references were great, but make sure you don’t take them out of text. Do you know why God wouldn’t answer the people in Jeremiah? And of course if your ill you can drink a little, that was their medicine then.

  3. My faith is kept strong by rememberence of Allah, rememberence of death and the day of judgement where i will be questioned about my actions.
My belief is in a divine creator. I did not come from nothing, nor did i create myself, nor did i make the universe and everything therin, thus there must be a creator. This creator cannot resemble this creation because creation is of temporary nature, and if he were like it, he too would need a creator. Thus nothing is like him, and trying to resemble him through imagination or pictorial representation is going to lead you astray and is strictly forbidden. Because he is not temporary, he is eternal, but to be eternal there is no first cause, and if there is no cause for him to come into being, there is no cause for him to be. If there is no cause for him to be there can be no end to him. Thus he must be self sufficient and eternal. In the universe, there is determination, a determination for existence over non existence, this determination is from God. There are two ways this will could of come, willingly or un-intentionally. If it was unintentionally then creation cannot help but resemble him in some ways, and he would not have total control over everything. But creation does not resemble everlastingness, therefore he must be a willing being. But to intend to do something you have to have knowledge, this can only come from being alive, therefore he is a totally free agent with power and control over everything. Nothing can be without his will because creation entails attributes of dependance, none other can provide this dependance but one God. There can only be one God because if there was many gods, each and every god would be responsible for the cause and effect of its creation, and thus nothing can interfere with its creation, but this contradicts interdependance in the entire universe. And if there were many Gods, some would overpower others, but then the overpowered could not be true gods, thus there is only one God, Allah, who meets all the absolute necessary requirements mentioned above and no other belief in God claims this.
My believe came from just observing the universe. Looking at the enormous sky drowining with gigantic clouds whilst on a boat on the vast ocean….where did all this come from? This led me to Allah.
A recent awakening that i would like to share with you was when i was reading the Quran. The Quran was revealed to a Prophet of God known as Muhammad(Peace and blessings be upon him) who was unlettered (meaning he couldn’t read or write) around 1400 years ago. When i read the Quran, it tackles all situations, like it tells you how to govern a community, how to pray, who is God, who are you and everything its amazing. Whats even more thrilling is that its not like a normal book, and intoduction a body and conclusion, it talks about issues from all over the place and never ever contradicts! Also these vereses were revealed to the prophet (pbuh) at different times, its totally unconcievable that an unlettered prophet could come up with something so flawless, thus it strengthened my belief that he Muhammad(SAW) was Allahs messenger and the Quran is divine revelation. The topic that really chills me is the concept of interest in my religon. The Quran was saying prohibited to you is taking part in interest and it really really emphazised this, even the prophet(pbuh) was strong on it. I never understood truly why till a couple of days ago when i looked into interest and found that it is straight up theivery! Downright worse than slaughter! Say if you and your husband bought a house for $400 000, and you were paying interest and payed off about $200 700, and something happened (you got sick or accident) and no longer able to pay back the money. The banks would come and take away your house and you are left with nothing. Even though you already payed soo much money back $200 700 would be for nothing. They take that money, your house and sell it proabably at and even higher value and get money from that, destroy you and your husband leaving you with nothing!! That is why God is brutal when it comes to interest, because its oppression. Whenever i think about interest my heart quakes, i know a unlettered prophet in the middle of the desert 1400 years ago couldn’t of come up with something like this, this is from Allah.
Well i hope i helped, please email me if there is anything else i can help you with and all the best with your work.
    peace.
