What is your opinion on Theosophy ?

Extracted from Wikipedia : Theosophy is a doctrine of religious philosophy and mysticism. Theosophy holds that all religions are attempts by the “Spiritual Hierarchy” to help humanity in evolving to greater perfection, and that each religion therefore has a portion of the truth.

It’s a form of spiritism.

Gimli (Siriusly!)

It is not based on any evidence..

Well, it sounds nice except for the part in “helping humanity in evolving to greater perfection” – don’t think so.. XD

Interesting philosophy, though I don’t buy into it.
I see religion as based on experience. Regardless of what religion I follow, as long as I have a spiritual experience, I’ll be satisfied.

It is sheer ignorance.

It is not from YAHUSHUA, so it is from Satan.

Some of it’s basic principle actually has merit. God is revealed to have created us in ‘His image’, which means there is a spiritual connection to Him despite our rebellion. Humankind, unwittingly, has always felt that pull to seek and search for it’s creator. It’s ‘hard wired’ into us. If that is true, one would expect to find common themes and ritual all throughout recorded history. One would also expect to find that all religions have ‘some’ truth. We do find this.
Thanks for asking friend.

I don’t know. I had such a hard time reading ‘Isis Unveiled’ and ‘Science and Theology’ could not really determine what Blavatsky was trying to say..

Some people have a curious definition of perfection. No religion is ever completely evil; that wouldn’t sell. However, most of them are far enough from being good that I prefer to just figure it out as I go along.

To begin with it is essential that we are clear on the terminology used. Theosophy, literally translates as wisdom of God and could be taken to mean direct insight into God. This in itself is the purpose of all true religion.
The study of the hidden meaning of scripture, theurgy, contemplation, prayer, meditation and other forms of mystical exercise are all tools that can assist humanities understanding of God. As such the insights gained from this study will always uphold the religious tradition itself even if religion is seen only as the Outer Church as a result.
However, the word “theosophy” was also used with great effect by Madame Blavatsky as a catch all term for her own highly anti-religious philosophy that was centered less on gaining direct insight into God and more on endorsing a fundamentally Eastern worldview. Thus Blavatsky’s system cannot be called Theosophy in the proper, historical sense of the term.
If an aspirant wishes to discover the true Mysteries of God, it is essential that they have an authentic teacher.

It’s a lot like Rosicrucianism. They think all life forms “evolve” in seven waves. We humans are number 4. rocks are 1; plants are level 2. Animals are level 3. Angels and higher beings are 5, 6, and 7. And life evolves as seven-fold bodies from spirit to physical, in thousands of reincarnations, until achieving “perfection” by learning all of its “lessons”, whatever those are.
Nonsense. Invented mostly by Madame Blavatsky.
