Where he is said to be from is in modern day Nepal, which was founded around 1768 CE. When Buddha was supposedly alive, it was in the nebulous region called India.
Nepal, India, Pakistan, sri lanka, Bhutan, all were part of INDIA
when the budh was born he was in undivided India, so the birthplace of budh is India.

You are correct. Siddhartha Gautama was born in the garden of Lumbini, which is located in modern day Nepal. However, during that time King Suddhodhana (the prince’s father) ruled over the Sakya kingdom which included parts of both northern India and southern Nepal. Thus Siddhartha was born into Indian royalty. Besides the Buddha’s birth, all other major events of the buddha’s life took place in India. Maybe this is why some people believe India was his birthplace.
