What is the difference between pilates and yoga?

Is it true you can burn calories from doing any of them? Which one would be best to take up for someone who is over weight slightly?

  1. Pilates is more of an ab workout, focusing on strengthening of the core.
    Yoga is a series of strengthening and stretching poses, but it depends on what type of yoga it is.

  2. I look it as Pilates focuses more on strength and Yoga more on balance. They are very similar though. I know a few dancers that do pilates, but any type of exercise is good is you’re trying to loose weight, I’d recommend pilates.
