Welcome to the realm beyond the ordinary, where the physical and spiritual converge. Today, we delve into the captivating topic of the mark over the third eye and its profound significance. Prepare to embark on a journey that will unveil the hidden mysteries of the tilak and its connection to the mystical world beyond our senses.

  1. The Tilak: A Gateway to the Supernatural

Picture a door that separates our worldly existence from the enigmatic realm that lies beyond. This door, my friends, is situated precisely over the point between our eyebrows—a sacred juncture where the ordinary meets the extraordinary. To symbolize this mystical gateway, the tilak, a vibrant vermillion mark, came into being. However, one must understand that the tilak cannot be applied randomly. It takes a seasoned seeker, someone who can intuitively find the precise spot, to guide us.

  1. The Third Eye: Unveiling the Inner Depths

The third eye, situated above the midpoint of our eyebrows, holds profound secrets. It varies in position depending on an individual’s spiritual journey. Those who have traversed the path of meditation in past lives will find their third eye positioned lower, while those without such experience will locate it higher on the forehead. The placement of the third eye reveals the depth of one’s meditation and whether they have touched the sublime state of samadhi.

  1. The Third Eye Experience: Beyond the Ordinary

The significance of the tilak becomes apparent when we understand its connection to the third eye. When the tilak is placed precisely over the third eye and mirrors its size, a remarkable transformation occurs. You become acutely aware of this spot throughout the day, while the rest of your body fades into the background. This heightened awareness fosters a momentous shift, allowing you to open the doors of the third eye.

In this unique practice, where the tilak becomes the focus, your consciousness crystallizes, laser-focused on the third eye. It’s akin to harnessing sunlight through a magnifying lens to create a scorching fire on a piece of paper. By concentrating your consciousness on the third eye, you burn away the barriers that hinder its vision, unlocking the door to the inner sky.

  1. The Tilak as an Indicator of Progress

The tilak serves a dual purpose in its connection to the master-disciple relationship. Firstly, it guides the seeker to remember the spot continually, acting as a spiritual compass throughout the day. Secondly, it assists the master in monitoring the disciple’s progress without physical contact. By observing the positioning of the tilak, the master discerns the student’s advancement or any obstacles they may encounter. It becomes a progress chart, allowing the master to offer guidance and tailor the meditation techniques to suit the disciple’s evolving needs.

  1. The Third Eye and the Power of Will

At the core of the third eye lies the center of willpower—the agya chakra. This center governs the discipline and harmony in our lives, granting us the freedom to be true masters of ourselves. Without its activation, we remain enslaved to countless desires and influences.

Activating the agya chakra liberates us from various forms of bondage, empowering us to transcend the limitations of the body and senses. As we awaken this dormant force, our bodies no longer command us but instead obey our will. We become the architects of our own existence, capable of influencing our physical and mental states.

Dear seekers of truth, the mark over the third eye, the tilak, unveils a world of profound spirituality and self-mastery. As you embrace the wisdom of the ancients, remember that this mark holds the potential to awaken the extraordinary within you. With each passing day, may you discover the infinite depths of your being and find liberation in the radiant light of the third eye.

In Taoism and many traditional Chinese martial arts, “third eye training” involves focussing attention on the point between the eyebrows with the eyes closed in various qigong postures. The goal is at first to be able to fix one’s attention while other physiological changes are happening in the body. Eventually, this training is said to allow one to keep one’s attention properly on the opponent or opponents in a physical confrontation. Students who undertake such training often report experiencing feelings of pressure, pulsing, tingling and other sensations between the eyebrows and around the forehead area.
Some, including Rick Strassman, have suggested that the third eye is in fact the partially dormant pineal gland, which resides between the two hemispheres of the brain. This concept is supported by the pinealocytes, one of the cells within the pineal gland, having a strong resemblance to the photoreceptors of the eye. Additionally, the pineal gland is said to excrete dimethyltryptamine (DMT), which is believed to be a chemical precursor to dreams, near-death experiences, meditation, visions, and other forms of awareness that aren’t well understood yet. While still speculative, this indicates that the pineal gland could be the physical manifestation of the third eye. Various types of lower vertebrates, such as reptiles and amphibians, can actually sense light via their pineal gland which serves to synchronize their circadian rhythm to the daily light/dark cycle.
