What is kundalini yoga's view on homosexuality?

I just saw a yogi call homosexuality a mental perversion. It’s hard for me to understand why someone who preaches love would view it in that way.

  1. I’m sorry, I atheist but I have the same belief.
I think that a dick is suppose to go up a vagina for a reason, not just because of sex it’s just clear that we were made to be together..
I feel as if homosexuallity is not a sin, is natural, but it’s kind of like a disorder to find a woman and a man attractive. Not saying it’s bad but I think there is something in the brain that won’t let you be attracted to woman/woman.
My opinion, it’s how I feel. Please don’t harass.

  2. Sounds like the Yogi has been hanging out with christians too long. Most believe gays are not a perversion.

Hindu views of homosexuality and, in general, LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) issues, are diverse. Same-sex relations and gender variance have been represented within Hinduism from Vedic times through to the present day, in rituals, law books, religious or so-called mythical narratives, commentaries, paintings, and sculpture. The extent to which these representations embrace or reject homosexuality has been disputed within the religion as well as outside of it. In 2009, The United Kingdom Hindu Council issued a statement that ‘Hinduism does not condemn homosexuality’, subsequent to the decision of the Delhi High Court to legalise homosexuality in India
    Yogis are considered Hindu right?

  3. Homosexuality would have no impact. Your goal is to raise shakti.
There is a book on gay tantra called Gay Tantra if your want more information on this topic.
Traditionally tantric sex celebrates male and female aspects of God coming together in sexual union.
You may practice kundalini yoga irregardless of your sexual preference.

  4. Not sure but I think they focus on the whole yin/yang idea which would mean to form something complete, there would need to be two opposites, therefore a male and a female.
Of course, our (Western) understanding that ‘a mental perversion’ is a bad thing might not be the same as their interpretation. Maybe there’s a different meaning that just doesn’t translate well. But maybe not…I’m not entirely sure but I do know that I haven’t heard any yogi uprisings about couples getting married.
BTW, I’m also an atheist who understands that an individual does not dictate the biology they’re born with….just like an infertile female doesn’t decide to be…sometimes life’s a b*tch and that does not give anyone the right to treat others as inferior and disallow them from legal activity.
