I have a couple on Descartes but need help with Aristotle and Socrates. For Descartes I have “I think therefore I am”, “Can we truly know everything” and “If we know something to be true does that make it so” I am just stumped on Aristotle and Socrates. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • I’m not 100% sure about Aristotle, but Aristotle was taught by Plato who was taught by Socrates, so I’m sure it’s a similar idea. Socrates believed that you to be a true philosopher, you need to use your mind as much as you possibly can, and do not NEGLECT the needs of your body, but satisy them as minimally as you can so that you are able to think. Thinking extends into every facet of existence that you can think of, science, justice, politics, friendship, love, etc.

  • Socrates uttered the words, “The unexamined life is not worth living.” He is also supposed to have said, “The one thing that I know is that I know nothing” or something to that effect.
