What is a person's "third eye" and how do you open it?

Today I went to a store, and this lady told me that everyone has a third eye. She said physics use it. I didn’t understand her when she said exactly what it was or how to open it. Can someone give me a easy to understand explanition of this. I think its pretty interesting and if you have it opened, what do you usually see? I read some articles on the internet but I didn’t quite understand them.

  1. A third eye is, yes, what psychics use. What it is, is a “6th sense” or a way to tell something you can’t tell with your 5 senses.
How you open it– it’s kind of like a feeling is how i would describe it. You have to try sensing it then when you do keep doing whatever you can to use it. For example, you may be able to tell someone is in a bad mood even though you aren’t looking at them to see thier body language.

  2. your third eye is in between your eyes in the middle of your forehead. It is one of your higher chakras. The way I opened my third eye was to smoke marijuana. Everytime I smoked Ijust opened up to new thoughts, new ideas, I saw the world differently. I actually became more intellectual.I was able to see myself and the world for the way it actually was, instead of hiding behind these walls of materialism and superficiality and power. I’m not telling you to smoke marijuana to do this, but that’s how I could open up my third eye. Meditation also works, but you have to know how to meditate. it’s a sense of awareness that is greater than what you were. It’s a higher level of spirituality. Good luck and have fun!

  3. The “eye single” is well-described in Ann Ree Colton’s “Kundalini West” and “Watch Your Dreams,”
in “The Path of the Higher Self,” Mark Prophet,
and in “Man’s Subtle Bodies and Centres,” O. M. Aivanhov.
The most important aspect of “awakening” this 6th chakra is pure motive and right desire.
Thus, along with any psychic exercise, one’s own personal character and moral and ethical development is key.
Other good books and sites: “Autobiography of a Yogi,” Yogananda,
    “The Field,” Lynne McTaggart,
“Life before Life,” Jim Tucker, M.D.,
“Babies Remember Birth,” David Chamberlain, Ph.D.,
    “Expecting Adam,” Martha Beck, Ph.D.,
“The Great Divorce,” C. S. Lewis,
    “Extraordinary Knowing,” Dr. Elizabeth Mayer,
“Light Is a Living Spirit,” Aivanhov,
“The Master of Lucid Dreams,” Dr. Olga Kharitidi.

  4. Most people seek such things for ego and influence, though they won’t admit it. I would pay more attention to mastering my own wayward desires and faulty thoughts. You can probably do more good in the world concentrating on performing acts of selfless service to open your heart. It may be that further on the path in future lives your third eye will open on its own. Oh, and I would stay away from drugs. They open you to lower psychic experience that masquerades as higher experience.
