What if the Dalai Lama was not the REAL one?

I had someone who lives in my town say the position was offered to him, and he refused it. He did live in Tibet from the time he was 4, and left when he was 18. Do you suppose it could be true, or is this guy delusional? All he does is go around noticing people’s auras and offering to fix them.

They have ways of recognizing the real one. There are tests they perform.
Personally I don’t think the Dalai Lama has been reincarnated, but it doesn’t mean he isn’t a cool guy.

what pleasure do you derive or purpose do you serve by attempting to do harm to somebody who does no harm to you, or anybody else, for that matter? i mean, besides displaying the degree to which you act out of ignorance.

The Dalai Lama is the person who has been socialized into that role by the group of monks who care for and educate the child chosen. Any reasonably sensitive and intelligent child raised in the Tibetan spiritual milieu will grow into the role if chosen. The current occupant of the position is an excellent example of the profound transformation involved. It is unlikely, but possible, that the person you know was considered. If he had been chosen and he and his family had accepted, he might have become a passable Dalai Lama, but he was not, AND DID NOT UNDERGO THE SOCIAL TRANSFORMATION, thus is not the “real” Dalai Lama.

Can only answer with information I’ve gathered through History, TLC, and Discovery channels and a wee bit of reading. From what I was able to understand the present Dalia Lama went through a series of “TEST” as a small child and became a reluctant recipient of the position. Therefore was taken away from his family as a small child and molded into the person he is today. I can not believe the position was “offered” to anyone and refused. At the time under Tibetan Rule, I don’t think it was “optional to refuse.”
It is quite possible the person in question might have been tested. Also could have been in contention as the next head of state or Dalia Lama. It is more than likely the Monks looked at many of what I can only call candidates, before finding the present “Head of State” or Dalia Lama in exile from Communist China. Who runs roughshod over the Tibetans to this very day. Many people, not Tibetan or possible candidates also can allegedly see “auras” and even possibly fix them.
IDK (not yelling) All I do know for sure is the present Dalia Lama seems to be a genuinely good person. There are lots & lots of good people in this world. But, I must admit he can certainly “hold his cool under fire” considering the number of the Buddhist Monks murdered and Temples obliterated. After all he is supposed to be the reincarnation of Avalokitesvara, the bothisattva of compassion.
Have a wonderful Day/Night
