Would people follow them as Gods (note that some misguided people do) as they do with Jesus?
I believe that Lao Tzu, Jesus, Buddha and every other prophet and sage in history were not divine-just human like you and I.
Some had nefarious means, others wanted to save the world and some where just out of their minds.
So if Lao Tzu and Buddha had claimed divinity, would they have been taken seriously?
Lao Tzu and Buddha both spoke of practically all the virtues that Jesus did-but only in Jesus (as far as these three are concerned) was the claim of divinity made.
So if you take away the parts about Heaven and Hell, Reward and Punishment-Jesus and Lao Tzu are almost parrallel.
So, do you think that Jesus actually claimed divinity-or was this later attributed to him (as some followers of Lao Tzu and Buddha did of them).
After all, none of us were around when the Bible was written were we?
I’m a follower of the moral codes of Lao Tzu and Buddha, which means I read their works and disregard any one who tries to claim that they were divine.
Brilliant and wise-yes. Divine-no.
So you would have followed me if I claimed divinity then?
