What does Kahlil Gibran mean in this quote???

Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding. It is the bitter potion by which the physician within you heals your sick self. Therefore, trust the physician and drink his remedy in silence and tranquility.” – Khalil Gibran”

  1. It just means that we need to learn from our mistakes so that next time, we will not make that same mistake again..

  2. He’s saying that pain is not a negative thing and should be embraced in order to find true understanding. He then likens it to someone who is very ill and the cure is a pill that tastes so awful and bitter (like chemotherapy to cure cancer) that you may be tempted to not take it. But only by taking the “bitter potion” can you get better.

  3. he’s talkgin about our relationship with God. God beign the physician within each of us.
the foremost thing we can do is to create and reach out to Him. most of us dont and that is a painful situation. once you can do that you “heal yourself”as you know who you are and yr position in regards to your Higher Power.
so just sit in reverence with the Higher Power and get close.
