They are practices, without a diety.

They are all Eastern philosophies that predate Christianity.

They’re all false religions.

christian bastard in buddhist and its my religion

They appeal to people who are intrinsically motivated to be “good”, without having to please a guy in the sky, or worry about some fictional location where people are sent to be tortured for not “believing” in a system polluted by the passions and ideas of men who condone or encourage the murder of people who don’t share the same beliefs.

They are all eastern religions.

They all date from around 500BC, they all originate from the Orient, and they all deal with the ethics of the human being and their relationship with the community at large.

well…duhhh …they start with the guys name …..

They are Eastern philosophies originated in China.

they all deny the exsitance of almighty god . both taoism and confusism draw their beliefs in the power of nature whereas buddhism is an offshoot of hinduism which draws its beliefs from both nature and the belief in karma and reincarnation. thousands of years ago babylonian sects had similar beliefs which eventually spread to form hinduism and many of the oriental belief systems around now

Hi Timi,
I’m not a fast typer so I know my answer will be near the bottom. I do hope you still get to read it.
Confucianism is very different to both Buddhism and Taoism, so we should leave that aside and study that seperately.
Taoism and Buddhism are very similar for a couple of reasons, not least that as buddhism spread from northern India it picked up ideas from other religions around at the time and evolved to suit its environment. In China, for example, words that explained Taoist concepts were also used when translating the Buddhist texts, so it’s natural some concepts from Taoism leaked into Buddhism. This isn’t a bad thing, it’s just something to bear in mind: Buddhism always depends on context.
A big similarity between Taoism and Buddhism is that they both put importance on being ‘in the moment’ rather than dwelling in the past or dreaming/worrying about the future. The way in which this ‘being in the moment’ is achieved is very different between the two religions though. Buddhists try to be mindful and skillful in their thoughts and actions so as to cause minimum harm to anything else. Buddhists try to be mindful to adhere to the five (or ten or eight) precepts. Taoists, on the other hand, believe that nature is key. They try to behave in a ‘natural’ way. They try not to think about consequences per se, rather to react in the way nature intended so that they can be ‘at one with reality’.
Reality in Buddhism is a tricky tricky subject. The abhidhamma pitaka makes some attempt to explain it. I’m not sure how reality is explained in Taoism.
From my studies, I think Confucianism puts emphasis on society rather than the individual (which is also similar to Buddhism because Buddhists believe the ‘self’ is empty and believe in the inter-related nature of all things). Confucianism seems to be more about control and supressing people’s natural desires to ‘be somebody’ or to ‘have things’ rather than try to find any relief for suffering through ones actions.
An important thing to remember is that Confucianism is no-longer practiced. A VERY small minority of people support neo-confucianism (these are usually rich people who want to control everyone around them I suppose). Taoism still exists in small pockets of Asia. Buddhism, on the other hand, has gone global and is a major world religion. A big draw to Buddhism is the fact that nothing should be taken on faith — this particularly appeals to westerners. Everything you believe should be based on evidence.

No One Cares……… What Your Name Is.

Exotic wonder

they are all eastern religions- which promoted peace- also understanding of nature- and humans within nature-
all of the religions promoted a person knowing themselves, the truth, and the divine- knowing each person has a soul and a purpose in life-

Besides Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism were found and they originated in China. All three beliefs uphold the moral value and Chinese culture for a few thousand years.
Not relating to Buddhism nor Taoism, Falun Gong is a unique Buddha School, combining the Taoist and Buddhist practice. Falun Gong is based upon the universal principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance. Falun Gong consists of five sets of powerful exercises.
Falun Gong, Tibetans, other Buddhists, and Christians have been persecuted in China. The most offensive human right violation is the organ harvesting from the Falun Gong practitioners in China.
Can you support Falun Gong practitioners in China, please ?

they are an “open” religion . unlike Christianity (Believe in ONE GOD, No other gods beside me)

Tall man

They all tried to find inner peace
