What benifits may a 55 year old semi retired male have from taking part in yoga?

A 55 year old semi retired male regularly takes part in yoga at the local village hall. What benefits may this bring to him? Health, social, mental and physical wise.

  1. It should improve his flexibility and help him to relax, potentially lowering his blood pressure and avoid stress. I doubt it would actually make him fit or help him lose weight though.
    Socially it would allow him to mix with different people and give him a sense of accomplishment as he progressed. There will probably more women in the class than men. Mentally he may be calmer and more patient.
    A lot of it depends on the person though.
