  1. “The Communist Party of China, officially atheistic, initially suppressed Taoism along with other religions. During the Cultural Revolution from 1966 to 1976, many Taoist temples and sites were damaged and Monks and priests were sent to labor camps.”
    Just wanted to share.

  2. You picked a tough one. Taoist ideas are very simple – BUT – try to explain them on paper. Whew!
The basic point of Taoism, simply, is that there “is no point.” The universe or the Tao is completely impartial, all things equeel out in the wash, and all people are the same.
They value humbleness as a value. Some of the worst things you can do (according to a Taoist): Dominate people, commit violence (even with a “just cause”), being a know it all, force your ways and/or judge people. You are not supposed to look for credit whatsoever, just do your duty and hapily enjoy that fact when it’s done.
A copy of Tao Te Ching (by Lao Tzu c. 400 B.C.) might help you. Make SURE you get one with a good chapter by chapter explaination. Only 81 poems, but it gets deep.
