What are the differences in philosophy if any at all between Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, and Jainism?

What are the similarities between them if any at all? Also what other religions are similar to the ones that I have mentioned? As much information as possible would be greatly appreciated. Also if you could leave any links as well. Respectful answers please.

  1. “Also what other religions are similar to the ones that I have mentioned?”
    Vedanta
It would be a point of research before considering ‘differences’ in ‘philosophy’.

  2. Great book….it will answer in thorough and accurate detail with plenty of references:

  3. O kay! Not many answers so far eh? Well, it’s midnight where I am so I can’t spend too long on this I’m afraid but I think that for a comparison of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism, the traditional story of the ‘Vinegar Tasters’ is a good start.
As I understand it, Confucius (K’ung-fu-tzu) saw the world as a reflection of Heaven. And just as Heaven had its Emperor and rules, so too should earth. And following those rules was the way to harmonise human life with that in Heaven
Buddha of course saw the ‘suffering’ in the world, saw its cause and found a way to ‘overcome’ this. No ‘Heaven’, just the ‘suffering’ caused by misunderstanding the world and a means to ‘awaken’ from this ‘illusion’.
Taoists believe in following the natural ‘pattern’ of the universe since they believe that if you rub life up the ‘wrong way’ it’ll feel rough!
As for Jainism, I only know it’s another dharmic religion (like Buddhism).
Sorry it’s a bit sketchy, but it’s a big question (and late)!
