What Are Some Tips For Activating Your Reiki Energy?

I have my level two reiki training… but I find that sometimes the energy is much stronger than other times. Lately I have not been able to successfully transfer a strong stream of energy. Does anyone have tips for getting into the state where you have a strong stream of energy passing through you?
thanks Alot!

You can gather all of your energy to your pubic region, then take a big breath, and slacken the reiki energy in your pubic region. And you will find a very strong stream of energy released from your behind. It is your reiki energy and make a shake loud! Um,sometimes with no sound.and ,smell not good.

Other than holding a strong sense of intent, there isn’t really too much one can do to “intensify” the flow of energy. Perhaps adding visualization to the treatment would add to the energy being transferred, but other than that, I don’t think there’s a way to “ramp up” the energy. And doubtless there will be the argument of “no scientific proof”, so I’ll provide this link. http://www.reiki.org/Download/OschmanReprint2.pdf
There has indeed been a method of measurement.
How much any one person accepts or perhaps “buys into” the idea that this is all possible is up to the person reading and/or absorbing the energy.

Probably because there is no such thing as Reiki energy. I hope you are not spending too much money of this reiki scam, and I hope you don’t go out there trying to heal sick people. How much thought or research have you put into this?
There is no evidence for ‘reiki energy’, and in fact the word ‘energy’ is being misused by proponents who clearly have no concept of science or physics. Energy is an attribute of something – a measurement of something’s capability to do work, eg; force x distance.
Please consider:
No one has ever observed or measured this ‘universal energy’.
We have a very good understanding of energy, and ‘universal energy’ is considered implausible.
It cannot be explained how this alleged ‘energy’ is a healing ‘energy’ only, and not dangerous.
It cannot be explained how special people are able to manipulate the ‘energy’.
Reiki cannot beat placebo in rigorous clinical trials.
Please read the wiki article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reiki
The only measurable effect of Reiki is it’s ability to lighten wallets – and this it seems has unfortunately already happened to you.

EDIT: Tony – did you just make those studies up?? Where’s your cite?? What’s your source?? I’m guessing they are rubbish.
Here’s what wikipedia says about the scientific research:
“The scientific study of Reiki is complicated by the fact that in order to conduct a placebo-controlled study, one must make the placebo look like the treatment in every respect.[69]
The strongest research conducted as of 2008 has failed to demonstrate that Reiki is an effective treatment for any condition. This systematic review assessed this evidence base, finding nine studies which fit their selection criteria.[7] A modified Jadad score of methodological quality was used, taking into account the difficulty of blinding practitioners. Non-randomized studies were excluded, as the potential for intentional or unintentional bias in such studies is large, rendering the results uninterpretable. Overall, the methodological quality of the evidence base was found wanting, with even high-ranking studies failing fully to control for placebo effects and most studies suffering “methodological flaws such as small sample size, inadequate study design and poor reporting.”[7]
As trials with such flaws are known to be likely to show exaggerated treatment effects, there is insufficient evidence to indicate that reiki is effective as sole or adjuvant therapy for any medical condition, or that it has any benefits beyond possible placebo effects.[7][8]”

EDIT:
Heyoka – your link does not confirm that reiki energy has been measured or even what it is. Both questions were avoided in typical pseudoscientific fashion.

I can’t advise you on your question since I have no experience in Reiki. However, I am not at all close minded enough to think that today’s limited science has all or even most of the answers and thus I do not reject it out of hand.
Since one poster who has no experience with Reiki decided to come on to refute Reiki instead of answer the question, I, who also have no experience will provide a counterpoint:
Reiki and other forms of energy healing are little understood and little studied by medical science. That does not mean they do not exist. As the saying goes, “lack of evidence is not evidence of lack”.
It is not entirely correct to say that no benefits or effects have been found in studies. While many studies note that the trials are limited due to small number or participants and other criteria, they note at worst that the jury is still out and further study needed.
Here are excerpts from three examples among several which have detected evidence of effect:
Effects of reiki in clinical practice: a systematic review of randomised clinical trials
“The searches identified 205 potentially relevant studies. Nine randomised clinical trials (RCTs) met our inclusion criteria. Two RCTs suggested beneficial effects of reiki compared with sham control on depression, while one RCT did not report intergroup differences. For pain and anxiety, one RCT showed intergroup differences compared with sham control. For stress and hopelessness a further RCT reported effects of reiki and distant reiki compared with distant sham control.”
A systematic review of the therapeutic effects of Reiki
“Nine of the 12 trials detected a significant therapeutic effect of the Reiki intervention.”
Autonomic nervous system changes during Reiki treatment: a preliminary study
“RESULTS: Heart rate and diastolic blood pressure decreased significantly in the Reiki group compared to both placebo and control groups.
CONCLUSIONS: The study indicates that Reiki has some effect on the autonomic nervous system. However, this was a pilot study with relatively few subjects and the changes were relatively small. The results justify further, larger studies to look at the biological effects of Reiki treatment.”
The first two concluded that the jury was still out due to study limitations and all three noted that further study was needed or warranted. But that is not at all the same as saying that no positive results were observed is it?

Reiki is one of the more common “energy healing” modalities. It is very similar to Therapeutic Touch, Wiccan healing rituals, and closely related to Chinese qi gong. While there are unique variations between these ideologies, the basic concept is vitalism: that there is some form of universal life energy (qi/chi in TCM, ki in Reiki, Human Energy Field in TT. I have no idea what the Wiccans call it…Mother Earth?? I have watched Wiccan healing rituals and they are undetectable from TT.) There is also a close relationship to various “faith based” types of healing, with the “laying on of hands” that Pentacostal preachers do.
All energy healing claims that disease is caused by blockages in the flow of energy, and that a practitioner has special training or abilities (these days the very meaningless “intuitiveness”) to detect and manipulate the energy, either unblocking, adding energy or taking away bad energy.
Unfortunately there has never been a demonstration under properly controlled scientific conditions where any unique form of energy is detectable by very sensitive scientific instruments. When studied, “healers” are unable to reliably detect the existence of the energy themselves. There are no well controlled studies that confirm any of the energy healing practices can make a meaningfull difference in the outcome of any illness or injury. The best that can be reliably claimed is patients subjectively say they “feel better” or are “more relaxed”. Patients may report similar subjective feelings after petting a dog or listening to music. It’s basically relaxation they are describing. There’s nothing wrong with that…people who are relaxed do have less pain and stress. But, trying to claim a mystical and undetectable process is responsible is irrational.
I do actually know quite a bit about “healing energy”, as it was an attempt to get Healing Touch introduced into my hospital that turned me from a closet skeptic into an activist, and I researched it quite thoroughly at the time. They aren’t “little understood” by science. They are quite well understood to be frauds. It’s important to keep an open mind, but should we also recommend Fairy healing because that is possible and science “doesn’t understand it”?
You have wasted your money taking a course that is like a good Seinfeld episode…..its’ about nothing.
There is a nice summary of the history of Reiki at this link. Enjoy.

I find i gather my reiki energy better when laying nude in a tub full of warm soy milk.
Your mileage may vary.

I am afraid that there is none such.

To activate your chi you can do the following exercise:
1.Rub your hands on all sides and the outer sides of your upper arms.
Step forward with your right foot
Breath in, stretch your arms and hands upon breathing out.
Step back, lower your arms. Then your left foot forward and repeat three times.
Then shake hands with loose fingers and wrists/
2.Massage the sides of your fingers in the direction of the nail. Upon breathing out quickly release and imagine a multicolored flame shooting out.
3.Put your hands together in front of your chest. Breath in a colour, the roar of a lion or a sound in a part of your body (say stomach). Breath the thing you chose out through your hands (like 12 times)
4.Rub your hands together hard/ Move them apart and together again and feel the warmth. First slow and close, then faster and farther apart. Concentrate on the magnetism between your hands//
Then start the treatment
Good luck..

People over here are so serious and sentimental about the whole thing…haha
I too am reiki level 2…but I also am a pharmacist by profession..so i never rule out allopathy
ppl do tend to get so touchy either for or againt these topics…cynical and skeptical..so its more like a personality disorder…venting on Y!A becos there is no real place wher they can talk??
Anyway to ans ur q…it depends on ur own health too..and on that of the person you are passing on to
I have never passed reiki to any1 else besides my ownself..and personally I feel the energy more when I’m not well…when I’m normal and healthy I hardly feel it..so what I feel is that when you lack energy in 1 center you will feel it more over there

Celeste – as a Level II, you should have received 3 symbols and your teacher should’ve trained you on how to use them. I recommend that you start every day by drawing the power symbol on your left hand, chant its name 3 times, and slap your hands together to get its energy flowing. Then lay your hands on your heart and give yourself Reiki for about 15 minutes. Every day. If your teacher did your attunement correctly, you should feel it strongly, and after doing it several days in a row, there should be no question that it’s flowing. If you do still question, I would go back to your teacher and ask that your attunement be redone. Every teacher makes mistakes sometimes. I’ve been teaching and doing attunements since 2000, and I sometimes make mistakes that foul it up. If your teacher was distracted or missed a step or didn’t pull enough energy, sometimes it doesn’t take. So go ask to have it redone. And unfortunately there are a lot of charlatans in Reiki. I would ask to know your teacher’s lineage. He/she should be able to trace who gave their attunement back to either Japan or to one of the 22 Masters attuned by Mrs. Takata in Hawaii.
I’ve seen Kirilian photos that do show the energetic difference that Reiki makes. Here’s a sample: http://www.kirlian.org/kirlian/session.htm or try searching “Reiki Kirilian” for others. But as far as “proving” it, I think the proof is in the pudding. Find a true practitioner who holds Reiki “shares”, which are usually open, free meetings where people give each other Reiki. Look at reiki.meetup.com for groups in your area. And see what you think. I use Reiki every day on myself, my house, my office, my pets, as well as other people who visit my studio, and I’ve seen amazing results myself. I’ve had some really interesting results combining Reiki with hypnosis. I wouldn’t bother arguing with people about it. I just invite any skeptics to come to my studio, lay on my massage table, and after 1/2 hour, walk out feeling amazing and know for themselves its truth and beauty. Blessed be!
To AStrangeDuck999: it appears that you are not a Reiki Master and are therefore unqualified to know about the attunement process and whether or not it can fail. Believe me, it can absolutely be done incorrectly and fail. Thanks for your list of resources. FYI I received all my attunements through William Rand’s organization http://www.reiki.org.

I have never read an article or heard about a bad attunement but anything is possible. Without knowing more it is impossible to make a judgement. The bottom line is, are you practicing Reiki on yourself everyday, are you meditating, are you following the gokkai (5 principles), and most of all are part of local support group. If not check out meetup.com and search for Reiki in your zip. The things I mentioned earlier are meant to help you increase your ability by being a clear channel. There are other things like just do it and stop thinking about if is strong or not. The goal is to be as clear a straw for Reiki as possible, again the above things. There are some exercises you can do. Below you will find a number of articles with hints and exercises that will help you. They are from a variety of notable authors:

In order to keep ones Reiki flowing strongly and steadily, it’s necessary to not only give sessions to others, but also to recieve them – recieving Reiki sessions in person from another practitioner.
There is a scientific explanation for Reiki which includes it’s detection and measurement and which shows how it is based on the laws of physics and biology. This information is available in an article by scientist James Oschman and can be downloaded from http://www.reiki.org/Download/OschmanReprint2.pdf
Note that the information in Wikipedia isn’t always accurate or up to date. There are several impressive scientific studies that show positive results for Reiki and rule out the possiblity of a placebo effect. The ones by Baldwin et el using rats as test subjects are some of the most rigorous:
Baldwin, AL, Wagers, C and Schwartz, GE. Reiki improves heart rate homeostasis in laboratory rats. Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, 14 (4): 417-422, 2008 and Baldwin, AL and Schwartz, GE. Personal Interaction with a Reiki Practitioner Decreases Noise-Induced Microvascular Damage in an Animal Model. Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, 12(1):15—22, 2006.
All 25 Reiki studies that have been published in peer reviewed journals can be seen at http://www.centerforreikiresearch.org. In addition, the site contains rigorously produced summaries of all 25 studies and the site is free! This site was created by a team of 7 Ph.D qualified researchers and 5 nurses with research training. It is one of the best sites to access research information about Reiki. Based on the these studies, the researches have formed a conclusion based only on the well designed and carried out rigorous studies. They state that: Overall, based on the summaries of those studies that were rated as Very Good or Excellent by at least one reviewer and were not rated as weak by any reviewer, 83% show moderate to strong evidence in support of Reiki as a therapeutic modality.
Being a healthy skeptic means having an open mind in all directions; being equally willing to accept that something is true or not true and to have a well defined method of determining this. And then to look in an unbiased way at all the availble information and especially at the scientific research. William Lee Rand
