What are some good meditation tips?

I’m trying to attempt meditation, but I just can’t seem to concentrate. Any tips to keep myself focused? Thanks!

  1. 1. when you first start it’s very hard to concentrate so don’t worry
    2. keep your eyes closed
    3. Try to focus on one thing, like breathing in happy things and breating out negative thoughts
    4. Do it daily
I meditate as well, and i can understand where you are coming from.
these are things my own meditation guru has pointed out can help us focus, but in the long term, it is something you develop.

  2. Meditation is a very personal thing. Each of us sees things differently in our minds eye. It took me years to get my brain to see in pictures as I tend to see in words (it’s not as rare as you might think.)
There are hundreds of ways to arrive at pushing energy out of your body and they all require a ton of practise. One of the most important things to remember is if your mind wanders, gently bring it back. Don’t get discouraged as it will get better and better with practise.
The easiest is to lay on your back making sure no parts are crossed (feet, legs, fingers.) Picture a white ball (white equals positive energy) circling above your head (you can also end at your feet.) When you have collected the energy from your body, you will push it into the ball.Try to see your energy as sand, or a wind swirl swirling around in your feet. It will slowly come together and move out of your feet and up your calves. You watch the swirl gather more sand as it moves up your legs. As you leave a body part, know they are empty of energy and fully relaxed. Continue moving the swirl and collecting the sand all through your body until you have reached your head and the ball. Once it is all there, picture it flying out the top of your head and being absorbed by the ball.
If sounds around you can’t be avoided, tell yourself the sounds only make you more relaxed.
There are tons of books, including Meditation for Dummies, that are available in the library, online or in book stores. They will tell you that visualization, patience and practise are the keys to meditation.
It’s also a great idea, in my opinion, to get a tape and have someone talk you through it. It’s the same as being hypnotized, but you are always in control.
I wish you much success. It will change your life if you stick with it.
PS. Use soft lighting if you can. Not darkness though because you will put yourself to sleep.

  3. Take a deep breathe up to the back of your nose
This is to inflate your Pineal Gland this is the connection between your Third Eye and your Crown Charka
Then take that breathe slowly down into the bottom of your lungs to your stomach
Then slowly out through your mouth
Do this until you feel light headed
Then close your eyes you are ready to go : )
You will start to see colours or have visions stay with it until you understand what you are seeing : )
These are some of the benefits of meditation:
1.Improved concentration – A clear mind makes you more productive, especially in creative disciplines like writing.
2.Less bothered by little things – Do you sometimes allow yourself to get upset by little things? It is the nature of the mind to magnify small things into serious problems. Meditation helps us detach. We learn to live in the here and now, rather than worrying about the past or future. We do not worry about meaningless things, but see the bigger picture.
3.Better Health – There have been numerous studies pointing to the health benefits of meditation. The reason is that meditation reduces stress levels and alleviates anxiety. If we can reduce stress, many health benefits follow.
4.Knowledge of Self – Meditation enables us to have a deeper understanding of our inner self. Through meditation we can gain a better understanding of our life’s purpose.

  4. Stop asking questions. Stop thinking. Do what feels right. Find the area of your body that won’t let you concentrate and change it.

  5. Meditation should be done daily, and if possible it should be done morning and evening, or before and after work, whichever is more convenient…When you find yourself with some time, even a few minutes, during the day, sit and meditate. Do not discuss the calmness and centering gained through meditation by talking about it to others.

  6. The section titled, A Calm Mind, in the Zhuan Falun Lecture on the web provides a very complete discussion about concentration.
Falun Gong is a unique Buddhist School, found in 1992 by Master Li Hongzhi in China. It’s practiced in over 80 countries worldwide. Falun Gong is an ancient practice for the body, mind, based upon the universal principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance. Falun Gong consists of five sets of powerful exercises and the demo videos are free for download. You can also contact a nearby practitioner for free workshop and/or free instructions.
Falun Gong, Tibetans, Buddhists, and Christians have been persecuted in China. The most offensive human right violation is the organ harvesting from the Falun Gong practitioners in China. Can you kindly sign a petition to stop persecution of peaceful Falun Gong practitioners in China, please ?
