I know witches exists for a fact. But my question is what makes that person a witch ? Like what having paranormal gifts , Having a book nof shadows …..ect. I tried looking up the subject online but all i found was it basically saying ” Mythical , evil woman in mid -evil times”…blah blah blah. I know that cant be true.
Witchcraft is a spirituality and practice. Wiccan is a religion.
A true witch – or white witch is someone who works with the energies of the Universe and Nature, who operates with an open and loving heart.
Who wants to do good in her/his own life, and in the lives of others who give permission for them to act on their behalf (the power is always with casting spells for yourself as opposed to paying others to cast for you – as your energy is most powerful in attracting what you want)
A witch is able to believe that what she wants to have happen will.
And knows this with a certainty.
A witch is flexible and adaptable – and whilst with witchcraft there are many wonderful tools and rituals. They’re able to flex into the moment, and if they are passing a beach and feel the urge to cast a spell there and then – can and will do so.
A Witch is someone who wants to take a personal role in how their life is lead. Someone who takes a personal responsibility towards all actions taken in leading thier lives. A witch works with the energies that surround them and their home, and uses them to help achieve their goals they have set (either through spell casting or ritualistic works).
A Witch is nothing like what is portrayed on TV or in Movies. Witches cannot freeze time, travel thorugh time, shoot anything from their fingers, predict lottery numbers, fly (although in these hard times, I wish we could); we don’t intentionally poison people, nor curse them for the heck of it.
Witches with “powers” are just people who have practiced their naturally given abilities. Some have been able to control them their entire lives (they are not powers, and are accessable by anyone who has the patience to practice and gain control of them). Others take a great deal of time, learning about the abilities, and training themselves to use them.
A book of shadows is nothing more than a record book or a journal. It contains anything that would be important to the individual witch. There are no “Complete” books of shadows, as a witches book is always growing (as a witch never stops learning).
There are plenty of books out there that tell of the true nature of a witch. Most of them are guides on becoming one, but you don’t have to practice to read these books. Most of them are readily available at the library, so you don’t have to go and purchase one, if you don’t want to.
Edit: A witch is a practitioner of Witchcraft…a practice
A witch is not necessarily a Wiccan. Wicca is a religion, while Witchcraft is not.
What makes a person a witch is them deciding to be called or calling themselves, a Witch. A witch is, in most cases, a wiccan and understands the laws of nature, how to use personal energy as well as natural energy in their spells and life. some Wiccan prefer to be called a witch, others simply refer to themselves as wiccans, I practice so many different forms of the craft that I call myself a witch.
Witches aren’t evil mystical or mythical creatures, they don’t have supernatural powers, and they don’t fly on broomsticks or vacuum cleaners.
In short like I said before, its the decision to label themselves that makes them a witch, nothing more.
I am a witch, for me, that means wiccan. I don’t just practice witchcraft. It is my spiritual path. I follow only one rule: An it harm none, do what ye will.
So as long as I’m not hurting anyone, including myself, I can do what I wish.
I believe in karma, like the rule of three.
I am pantheistic, meaning I believe that nature is divine.
Having a Book of Shadows (I prefer to call mine a grimoire) doesn’t make you a witch. The tools don’t make you a witch. This isn’t a materialistic spirituality.
As for ‘paranormal gifts’, I had to laugh. I have deja vu a bunch. And can predict things pretty easily, but a lot of people have that sixth sense going for them. And I am pretty good with my set of runes.

One who practices the craft of magic or follows a mystical path and expresses a desire to take responsibility for the works of her/his life in a very spiritual way. There are Christian witches as well as Wicca ones there are those who fall into the designation of eclectic witches these are people who use a verity of religious and mystical ways to reach desired goals, mostly through prayer, meditation and ritual. Peace&Love be with you…~M~
