How often do psychiatrists prescribe medication to patients for depression?

Like they are throwing medicine around like candy or something…

Or is it only prescribed if it is really needed?

Unfortunately doctors usually tend over prescribe. There are different kinds of depression. and usually if someone changes there routine they can cure there depression. Also anti-depressants are very dangerous because they have a high risk of dependency. Also when trying to get off of Antidepressants you can go into cesears. Alot of patients over exaggerate symptoms and doctors will usually prescribe medications, because it is hard to tell if they really need it.
