We tend to be easily influenced by media and other people and when we let external factors get a hold of us, we begin to doubt and debate our own thoughts. This leads to an overactive mind that is full of contradiction and sometimes, contention. We should learn to free ourselves from outside influence.
Tibet was invaded, pillared, raped, destroyed. Tibet had no armies, no weapons, no tanks; yet their monasteries were robbed, priceless historical and religious scriptures were burned, monks tortured, and nuns raped before being horribly murdered. Tibetans were forced not to meditate, but to work in the fields. Under loaded machine guns, meditators were being forced to work in labor camps and wear the typical Chinese peasant uniforms so that all their uniqueness and individuality would be destroyed. In addition, the Tibetan language is deliberately being destroyed; children are forced to learn and speak Chinese.
It is a tragedy that Tibet fell into the hands of materialists who believe people are only matter and that consciousness is only a by-product of matter. Communists are not interested in meditation and they even deny the existence of the inner sphere.
