Best thing to do is research it completely. Buy books and read up online. If you like I can direct you to some good reads =)
Ok, For starters research more! We don’t really surrender ourselves to the Goddess and the God and there is no Wicca kit. Also your on the right track with the BOS. But research more. Books are as followed (authors): -Thea Sabin -Scott Cunningham -Starhawk
I would stay away from -Silver Ravenwolf
Web sites- www.Witchvox.com
Also look in the libary.
Witches don’t have colors. People become witches by studying, understanding and practicing witchcraft.
It does not require gods or goddesses. Some Witches are religious. Some aren’t.
Witchcraft is not Wicca.
Neither require a kit.
BOSs, by definition, are things you create. Everyone has to start somewhere.
NO HALLOWEENS GOD NO HALLOWEEN PLACES TO GO RELATED TO HALLOWEEN GOD NO HALLOWEEN PARTYS GOD NO HALLOWEEN COSTUMES GOD NO HALLOWEEN DECORATIONS GOD NO TRICK OR TREATING GOD.. FOREVER IN JESUS NAME AMEN.. NO HAUNTEDHOUSES GOD NO HAY RIDES GOD NO RAPE NO MOLESTORS GOD. AND STOP CALLING PEOPLE WITCHES GOD..
Well I don’t know what a white witch is, but if you’re interested in Wicca, you don’t need a kit or a book of shadows. Unless you want them. You can find a wealth of information online and Witchvox.com is a good place to start. You could also go to the New Age section of Borders or Barnes & Noble and thumb through books on Wicca, paganism, witchcraft, astrology, anything that interests you. See what you connect with first. I agree, stay away from Silver Ravenwolf, you won’t learn much there.
If you feel a profound peace, connection and reverence with nature, you already have a foundation. Just learn all you can. Blessed be.
Well, witchcraft ≠Wicca. That being said….
When you say “you have to surrender yourself to a god or goddess”, it makes me think that this isn’t what you really want, but you don’t know that yet. People come to Wicca, a religion, because they feel a profound connection to a higher power that they perceive in a way that most Wiccans see deity as also. It’s not that they *have* to surrender themselves to anything; they want to believe in and worship a higher power.
Kits aren’t necessary for either Wicca or Witchcraft.
Good for starting a BOS. Do you know what to put in it? I’ve never really kept one because by my tradition it’s always committed to memory, but I can direct you to a few people on here who may know more.
Haven’t we, as a nation, moved past the seperation of the colors? 😉
Seriously, true magic it a tool. Like the surgeons knife, it can be used to heal or to kill. “White Witch” is a term used by some groups to try to make themselves moree acceptable to the public.
“Kits for Wicca”? PLEASE read The Urban Pagan. Or “Wicca: for the Rest of Us” Or anything by Scott Cunningham. Or anything else who DOESN’T suggest buying a “kit”.
As far as surrender – B.S. You don’t “surrender” to the Gods. You accept them as partners andd work with them. And even that isn’t scrictly necessary for magic. Magic is about focused will and intent. You can even learn magic without learning any thing about gods! 🙂
ok. so .
its been said, theres no kit that you get… – with that said though there are several things that you can buy for your personal altar, if you deciede to keep one. everyone is different. It will be yours and you make it whichever way you choose.
I don’t think the term ‘ surrendering ” is appropriate here.. kinda makes it sounds like your going to make a human sacrifice loll
I think what your referring to is more of a ‘devotion’ ceremony.. * thats what I would call it btw…
you don’t need to do it. but you can if you want, its more of a personal ritual that you can do yourself. I would say its something along the lines of saying something like ” I want to devote my time, and continue on such a journey with guidance etc etc. i dunno.. its off the top of my head. I’m sure that if you feel the need to do this. it will come to you with ease.
The Term “White Witch ” is hardly and loosely used – …from my personal research and understanding.. when one refers to a white witch it means that they pratice good magick that has no intent to harm others, themselves.. because then it goes into that whole grey magick and dark magick stuff..
But in general, I hardly ever see anyone refer to those terms.
Starting a B.O.S is a good start, make sure you do your research, theres also lots of i guess you could call them ‘sub-categories’ ..you learn about, herbs; candle magick; oils; crystals; symbols; etc . and hey, if you have any Questions, you can always contact me. i have a great link ( not available to me right now) with a list of books that you can read.
* I would recommend Scott cunnigham ( i just like his books… ) & I would stay away… from silver rRavenwolf.. but its your choice in the end..
Overall, theres alot of stuff you can do research on and learn. just remember. go at your own pace. & don’t overwhelm yourself.
Blessed Be )O(
