I just read a book called “Crystal Awareness” and would like to begin using crystals in my daily meditations and ultimately beginning to attempt the healing process with them. The part I’m confused about is the types of crystals I need and how to obtain them. First it spoke of a personal crystal, which can be worn on your body. Then it suggested another personal crystal for meditation purposes. It also suggested having a cluster for recharging purposes. I looked on into the healing formations and most of them required 6-12 crystals. My question is what type of crystals do I use for these things and where can I find them to purchase? I thought about buying one of those “grow your own crystal” sets for the cluster, but I’m unsure if the ingredients they use will produce a natural crystal formation, at least natural enough for use as a recharging device. I’d like to purchase my first personal crystal soon, but am unsure where to obtain one that’s good enough to use and inexpensive enough to allow me to purchase the other crystals. I’m sure I can find some type of personal crystal to use as a pendant, but as for the other crystals I need, what kind of crystals are best? Do they all have to be clear or white crystals or can they have color to them? How big should they be? Should they have one point or two? Should they be large enough and heavy enough to sit on the ground without tipping over? And where can I get them for a decent price? A lot of the sites I’ve seen are very expensive, so if you have any tips for finding a quality source but at a cheap price, please fill me in! Any help would be great, and thanks for taking the time to read through all of this!
I respect your opinion that it’s the placebo affect I’m after, but really, if I took the time to answer a question I’d probably do some research before I slammed someone’s beliefs. Please, out of respect to me and anyone else who believes in crystal healing, keep your criticism to yourself. As your mother probably said, if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it at all. Thank you.
A tinfoil hat works better.
No, seriously, you do understand that no sane human being accepts that what you’re writing about is meaningful in any way whatsoever, right? There is no difference whatsoever between what you’re writing on, and what people experience with voodoo or santaria. The placebo effect. If you think it will help, it will, to some degree, whether you’re humming to a cut rock or circling a fire counterclockwise holding a bloody chicken foot. Realistically, if you’re going to rely upon the placebo effect, you would be wise to use a potato rather than colored glass. The coloring agents in ‘crystal’ are often various forms of toxic metals. You may seek inner clarity, and be rewarded with cancer from the mercury, lead and cobalt that was absorbed through the skin of your hands.
I’m afraid the book you’ve just read is just a bit of fun, like horoscopes, psychics etc.
If they worked, don’t you think we’d be using them in hospitals?
Buy them for ornaments. Marvel at their amazing crystalline structure, read up on how they are formed, how they reflect light, their chemistry and physical properties.
But don’t think they have any kind of magic energy or secret properties; that’s the type of thing best left in fantasy books where you found them.
EDIT: The research has been done, judgement has been passed, crystals do NOT have any effect on the human body. What you choose to believe is irrelevant, it will never change the fact that crystals do not heal anything, ever. Would you rather have people lie to you like one poster has done?
The other posters have given their time and effort to present you with truthful answers, if you wish to hear fantasy and lies then why not add “I’m not interested in the truth, just make something up that sounds good” to the end of your answer?
Are you intending to spend the rest of your life with your head in the sand, only wanting to hear whatever fits in with your distorted view of the world? You need to wake up and smell the coffee, you don’t live in a fantasy land of faeries, goblins and magic!
Crystals have been used for many years for healing. The best starter crystal is quartz. It is white or clear in colour. Its energy vibration is complementary to the whole aura and all chakras. I would start by getting one quartz crystal. Shop around. Quartz crystal should not be expensive.
I would not recommend “grow your own” crystals. I prefer crystals that have formed naturally in the ground. These are hard and have had the benefit of being in the earth’s gravitation for a long time.
The crystals assist with energy work. For example getting seven crystals with the same colour as the chakras can be used together with your energy healing. I would thus start with a good practice of energy healing. Include the quartz crystal in the daily meditation and slowly build up a crystal collection as your skill in chakra work increaes.
