Do you think that since God also made trees, He put into them some form of consciousness, at least to be conscious of the need for water, the changing of the seasons, the wind and the cold and the storm?
Could they be operating at a slower vibration than higher life forms, so that they do not catch anything except major events, whereas a human being is faster and aware of almost everything that happens?
A stone becomes a plant; a plant becomes an animal; an animal becomes a man; a man becomes a spirit; a spirit becomes a god.— Kabbalist axiom.
The Mayans call the center of the Milky Way galaxy Hunab Ku, or womb of the universe. They view the energy that comes from there as a pulsation of spiritual energies that has, since the beginning of the earth’s existence, been purposefully causing the collective consciousness of man to evolve. That energy is not limited to man but permeates all the elements in their various forms with, as udaya k pointed out, various levels of ether whose properties are consciousness. The vibration question is a good one, most interesting, as in “The Book of Concealed Mystery” (Kabbalist) it is pointed out that all of creation began with a single vibration. The Mayans, contrary to being profaned, were very aware of these vibrations of consciousness and saw them as a highly evolved organic structure of spiritual energies or vibrations that could be tracked with the use of a special calendar, the tzolkin. The consciousness of trees at a slower vibration seems quite logical as movement is associated with vibration and they are so quiet and still. But then you have to ask yourself is slow vibration significant of higher or lower frequencies of thought, that is, are we as humans evolving towards a place of rest and does that imply slower vibration of consciousness as you suggested in a tree? (I know you weren’t in a tree or were you?) Would this actually give the trees somewhat of a superior…I mean, I would rather just catch major events than all the stuff that goes on in my… okay… that is one pointedness of mind, another topic. Thanks for thinking and sharing. I love it.
The answers fall into two frameworks.
3 dimensional answers that say its not possible and multidimensional answers that say it is possible which the 3d school are not open to.
Kerlian photography shows that all living things have fields around them.
Fields of energy that disappear when the thing dies.
People animals and plants.
3d people say so what!
Multidimensional people say how interesting i wonder what that could mean.
Either way their is evidence.
Perhaps you are familiar with the work of the Indian scientist Bose. He showed that if you attach a galvanometer to a plant and they threaten harm to it there will be a chemical reaction that can be recorded and that reaction would be harsh compared to the reaction it would have to calm music or words. There is response even if the plant is not touched so there must be some level of awareness of subtle energies that all living things may respond to. We have no idea what is beyond our simple, limited awareness. Thousands of years ago radio waves were coming to earth from outer space. Who would have believed it? It was tens of thousands of years before man came up with an instrument that could pick up those radio waves and we haven’t even scratched the surface of more subtle energies and phenomena.
It it just arrogance and vanity that has us thinking we are so advanced. Probably every culture and civilization has thought itself the acme of knowledge and awareness. A million years from now when we know about 5% of what is to be known (we’re probably at about 3% at this point) then we will still imagine that we are the smartest thing around.
God is aware of every atom of creation and hold each one in its orbit by His will. His power and glory are beyond any mind to comprehend.
Possible depending upon the Ether content in the tree. The properties of ether are consciousness, Will power, thinking power, emotional powers, memory recollection powers, manifest in any form powers, can produce self sound power, can produce self illumination power, can attract like/unlike substances, can produce fragrance, is capable of drawing in its derivatives like Air, water, food, fire(heat and light) for its sustainance, so on ad so forth. Many of these qualities you can see in the trees and the tendency of movement or trend to walk in the case of Banyan trees. I will not be surprised if a peepal, neem or Basil plant nod to you if you speak to them. with best wishes.
Isaiah 55 (Amplified Bible) 8For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord. 9For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. 10For as the rain and snow come down from the heavens, and return not there again, but water the earth and make it bring forth and sprout, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, 11So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
12For you shall go out [from the spiritual exile caused by sin and evil into the homeland] with joy and be led forth [by your Leader, the Lord Himself, and His word] with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
Luke 19:40 (Amplified Bible)
40He replied, I tell you that if these keep silent, the very stones will cry out.
Psalm 148 (Amplified Bible) 1PRAISE THE Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens, praise Him in the heights! 2Praise Him, all His angels, praise Him, all His hosts! 3Praise Him, sun and moon, praise Him, all you stars of light! 4Praise Him, you highest heavens and you waters above the heavens! 5Let them praise the name of the Lord, for He commanded and they were created. 6He also established them forever and ever; He made a decree which shall not pass away [He fixed their bounds which cannot be passed over]. 7Praise the Lord from the earth, you sea monsters and all deeps! 8You lightning, hail, fog, and frost, you stormy wind fulfilling His orders! 9Mountains and all hills, fruitful trees and all cedars! 10Beasts and all cattle, creeping things and flying birds! 11Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers and judges of the earth! 12Both young men and maidens, old men and children! 13Let them praise and exalt the name of the Lord, for His name alone is exalted and supreme! His glory and majesty are above earth and heaven! 14He has lifted up a horn for His people [giving them power, prosperity, dignity, and preeminence], a song of praise for all His godly ones, for the people of Israel, who are near to Him. Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!)
No they do not have consciousness as we know it,trees and other plants are simple lifeforms that do not require consciousness in order to exist.
The higher animal form of life has consciousness but limited, for example a pig does not know it is in fact a pig,a dog is not conscious of being a dog and so on.
The highest form of created life(human beings) because we think and can ponder our existence means, that we are the only life form who have full consciouness.
Someone joked once that this is why you never see a horse with a vanity mirror fixing it`s hair!
All living things react to their environment (or they would not be living). However, ‘pain’ is an entirely different concept and applies only to animals as we know it. When you drive a nail into living tissue beneath the bark, chemical signals induce cell division and growth around the object. Plants get stressed all the time (heat, drought, etc) but they don’t feel pain, at least not the way we know pain. There might be a completely alien concept of pain that applies to plants, but it would probably be outside human understanding.
