Spiritually Speculating, What Might Have Happened if Buddha & Jesus Met In Person?

If Jesus & Buddha had an opportunity to meet each other in person, what do you think might have happened? Might they have teamed up as great leaders? Would one have recognized the other as a great teacher & become the other’s student? Might they have fought? What do you think may have happened? Thanks for your thoughts!

I don’t think their teachings (or at least whats leftover from them nowadays) are compatible, as Siddharta was dealing with life, and Jesus was telling people how to be better off when you’re dead.

@Steadfast: And how many Buddhists are there in India? Aren’t you confusing Hinduism with Buddhism here?

I don’t understand why atheists feel they have to ask questions like these.

Considering the fact that they were 500 years apart they would never have met….however Buddha as Jesus teacher would have been proud of Him.

From what I understand of the two figures, assuming they were real and existed at the same time, if they could get past the obvious language barrier, than they may have become good friends.

I think they would not have been interested in the same things. Buddha was not concerned with “afterlife” or the supernatural.

Jesus is harder to fathom because his teachings have been so corrupted and changed that it’s hard to know his original intent. For instance I don’t think Jesus ever claimed divinity. Such a thing would have definitely made the Buddha laugh I think.

They weren’t “great leaders” during their lives. They could be considered great men, or great teachers or progressive thinkers… but they weren’t in the business of leading anything. Afterward the power of their stories made them “great leaders”, in some eyes.

If they met, they’d likely treat each other as they did anyone else. As fellow members of the human race… maybe meditated together or something. But otherwise I think it would be pretty uneventful.

Buddha would have been born again.

It is because of Buddhism that the Apostle Thomas was butchered like an animal for preaching in India.
