Spiritually speaking… what is one to do when one’s consciousness incorporates a wider vision of itself……?

…and one’s physical focus feels threatened?

Thank you to those who answer…

If you say something one way and feel different inside, then there is no true honesty. It is like putting fancy packaging on a poor product.

Give yourself to it.

Rabidranath Tagore (author of Fireflies) said it best:

Whatever isn’t given …. is lost.

Dear CC, I recently had this amazing experience that changed everything for me in my perception. I experienced perhaps some of what you are talking about, maybe it was something different! My vision had become so changed that I no longer knew exactly how to respond to anything. When someone would ask me a Q I could see so clearly the many levels of what they asked, the place they stood that caused the Q to be, & knew the answer, but I also knew I could never tell the answer in a way they would see or accept, so… Read more »

Well, I don’t have an answer. But a few thoughts did occur to me. I have never been in this situation. Sure, I’ve had moments when my ‘focus’ changed. Like when I realised everything I see is an illusion. My brain simply blurs the effect of photons hitting the rods and cones in my retina into a smooth picture. That it’s all just particles and energy in space. Fortunately I soon returned to a functioning state. But I know some don’t. ‘Moon struck’, ‘star struck’, ‘away with the faeries’. These I suspect are terms for those who slipped too far… Read more »

letting go of the vision. the vision was planted in your brain from the very beginning, before you had taken this body. the seeker finally realizes it’s silence, you are silent. at first, yes, the physical feels many emotions of energies. you feel as if you don’t belong here on this planet. but, we were lost in this seeking game, called the “me”. and the me doesn’t really exist, it is merely a thought, idea. ‘It’ has been here all along, God starring you in the face. ;-)) The seeker with all its fancy “concepts”. the seeker is emptiness and… Read more »

My respects to all the answerers here My respect to you Chameleon My lord guide me, put my ego in its place, thats all i ask for Shiva says its a process of rearranging your concepts into nothing, only when you are devoid of this concepts that you will be truly free of the reality that you know of and begin to see reality as it is and start to live life truly from your own understanding until a truth is thrown upon you to change. They will come to teach you, the elders, wheter here or thru the words… Read more »

dear brother… the only words that i can offer are not my own… “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and soul, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 when one feels threatened… or even unsure… or even at peace with the world… there is an element of trust that must take place amid the chaos and confusion… as well as the peace of contentment… “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and soul, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your… Read more »

Dear Chameleon I may be way off mark here, and talking at a much lower level than perhaps what you are referring to …. I am not sure … But I speak here only of what I have been taught. I had a few months of feeling a similar way some years ago. It was a gloriously pleasant restful state, but it also made me incompetent in dealing with the physical, or keeping my mind on the physical. My mind would constantly be rising into higher states and spreading outwards in a wider vision, whether I wanted it to or… Read more »

“Lost in the Levels” (a title for a book which exists only in a few fragments) I’m going to sit somewhere between answers one and two. Not so brief, nor so mystical. Reality is complex. Incredibly complex. Which for many purposes it is wise to ignore*. Knocking a nail into a piece of wood is not best accomplished by contemplating the quantum interactions which provide the properties of what we happen to call matter, friction and possibly inertia (that last one is still a real puzzle) The crudest, grossest approximations do better: hammer, nail, wood, even though they are vague,… Read more »

There are only two possible situations where this could occur. One is under the direct supervision of an experienced spiritual master. Under this situation, there is no reason to worry about any threat to one’s physical focus. It would not happen, and the sense of security that the master would offer due to proximity is overwhelming enough to ensure any apprehensions creeping in. The second possibility (this is perhaps why even such a question itself gets prompted to be asked!) is that this could occur naturally. Naturally meaning, own efforts whether consciously or otherwise, awares or unawares, due to that… Read more »
