Scientologists: What are your individual opinions of L. Ron Hubbard's "good friend", Aleister Crowley?

A few questions, actually.
The people closest to Aleister Crowley, and even the man himself, have made him out to be, amongst other things, a misogynist, a racist, bisexual, and self-serving. These things aside, Crowley accomplished more in his lifetime than many people could if given ten.
How do you reconcile L. Ron Hubbard’s association to such a man with the PR image of himself which he was constantly trying to project?
Do you believe that Hubbard’s made-up PR image truly reflects the man, L. Ron Hubbard? If so, how do you reconcile this PR image with individual accounts of his bad behavior, and actions, by people who were close to him?
How much in common do L. Ron Hubbard, and Aleister Crowley, actually have?
I ask these question because I truly would like to know your views on this subject matter.
Ptah, yes, Frater Perdurabo was a genius in his field, just as L. Ron Hubbard was a genius in his field.
The social circles that I have danced through have been rather close to the man himself (Crowley), at times. I know more than your average magician.

  1. I believe the last Scientologists have been shooed away by R&S months ago.

  2. Aleister Crowley died of Uremic Poisoning from ingesting, I believe, cat blood. He accomplished nothing but his own destruction.
    Good luck finding a Scientologist.

  3. Frater Perdurabo was a genius in his field. You obviously know nothing about his work or the man himself.
    edited to add:
That makes you what, 90? Regardless, I do understand the connection between hermetics and dianetics.

  4. There are no Scientologists on YA. Scientology only recruits wealthy people such as Tom Cruise and John Travolta so that those stars will donate large sums of money to that organization. There are no wealthy people on YA therefore there are no Scientologists.

  5. L. Ron Hubbard was a follower of Aleister Crowley during his younger years, many of the concepts found in Scientology can be traced back to Crowley’s own occult system of Thelema…

  6. I’m a Thelemite, meaning I follow Crowley, and I see Scientology as a fine cult, a wonderful trick used to milk money from those who have it but not the brains to hold or use it well. However, I would rather free people’s will than bind it so eventually they say “hey this is stupid” and reject the bindings. But Scientology is about as see through as is Christianity or Islam. They’ll all steal your freedom if you follow them well.
