Meditators: What do you personally get out of meditation? Do you need scientific research as validation?

I am doing a research paper on meditators and why they meditate. I am wondering what meditators get out of meditation and whether they need science to prove meditation’s benefits in order to validate their practice.

You shouldn’t need science to validate meditation if you’re doing it properly. You will notice the difference in how you feel in your mind and body.

It lowers my blood pressure when I do it routinely and keep to dayly schedual. It also helps me to relax quicker to enable to go to sleep better. I feel much more refreshed when I keep to a routine of meditation in my life.
