Jesus: "…the kingdom of God (heaven) is within you."?

Luke 17
20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, “The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, ‘Lo here! or, lo there!’ for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.”
This means that the “kingdom of God” (heaven) is within – it is not a place to be reached, rather a state to be experienced.
One can call the “kingdom of God” (heaven) whatever one pleases – Zen, enlightenment, etc. This wisdom crosses all boundaries and unites all as one – “beings.”

  1. Jesus speaks of the fact that the “kingdom of God cometh not with observation.” To whom is He talking? He is answering the Pharisees who are demanding that He tell them when the Kingdom will come. He is not saying that the Kingdom of God is inside the hearts of these godless and hostile Pharisees. Rather, the Kingdom of God was in their midst, in the person of the King, the Lord Jesus Christ. He was right then standing among them.

  2. If the fundies and eeevan-gelicals ever understood that was true, they’d become clinically depressed en masse. It’s probably better that they don’t acknowledge it.

  3. The Holy Spirit is within the born again believers, thus the kingdom of Heaven is within them. When we die, our spirits will go to the physical Heaven. We will stand amongst our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
