It is wrong for me to be fascinated by the occult?

I am confused right now about this…
I was raised a Catholic but I have always questioned things.
Then I came across some occult topics and became fascinated. I bought some tarot cards because they intrigued me. I asked my parents about some of this stuff and they said it was evil. Is it wrong then for me to like these things? Is it ‘sinful’? How is it evil? How can you be sure evil spirits are the ones talking to us via the Ouija Boards?

    • how could you ever say go for it.?…I have been attacked for five years in every way possible .
If you ever lived one day of my life you would NEVER say such a thing.
It’s very serious !!! I have seen and been through things that I have only ever seen and heard about in horror movies.

  1. Catholicism is false and catholicism cannot get you or anyone into heaven.
And everything in the occult is demonic. Demons always mean pain, harm, destruction, and death to those who involve themselves with them.
And only JESUS can stop demons.
    You need JESUS.
Jesus is God, and Jesus loves you so very much! 😀
Salvation is a FREE GIFT that happens in a split second when you believe in Jesus alone to save you! It is impossible to lose or “leave” salvation (John 6:39-40, John 10:28, 1 John 5:13).
The truth about Jesus is that the only way to be saved and to get into heaven and avoid being sent to eternal hell, is by believing in faith alone that Jesus, who is God, died on the cross for our sins as FULL PAYMENT for all our sins, and then Jesus rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Believe this and you will be in heaven, no matter what!
Please pray now: “Jesus, please forgive me of my sins. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and You rose from the dead. Thank You for eternal life!” You will be in heaven with Him forever when you die! 😀

  2. tarot cards are fine. don’t mess with ouija boards. if you are interested in things go to the library and read about them. theres nothing wrong with broadening your mind and you may as well learn about things before you judge them.

  3. Yes it is sinful. Trying to go around God to get answers and such. There are evil spirits and they want you to go away from God. Catholicism is a beautiful and true religion. Don’t fall into that trap. Repent and move foward.

  4. No. It’s all just on the side. And catholics are into the occult, they’ve got exorcisms and whatnot after all. And anyway, being raised catholic certainly does not make you one.
Something is only “sinful” if you, yourself, deem it to be.

  5. No – I love tarot and crystals myself! Go for it and let your love light shine on the world. By the way there are no evil spirits, so just chill out!

  6. You are right to question what you were raised to believe, but don’t put too much money on the ‘occult’. It’s as much superstitious nonsense as most religions. Try reading about Wicca and Satanism, that might give you a broader picture

  7. Yeah, Milton Bradley board games are ALWAYS evil, didnt you know that??? SHEEEESH…
There is nothing wrong with finding it interesting and fascinating. Personally, I am fascinated that in today’s modern age, people still cling to bronze aged myths…but surely there is no danger in learning about world religions, is there??
The only “danger” you face is buying into occult BS. If youre gullible enough for that, youre gullible enough to make a great victim for a scam artist.

  8. christianity is a dangerous religion, do not mess with it!
try Satanism it is the only religion that is not part of the occult at all, it is pure life philosophy of nature and reality

  9. Don’t go there. Keep your eyes on God because heaven and hell are very real. The only way into heaven is by believing in the beautiful message of Christ Jesus. Please pray a sincere prayer with all of your heart admitting to Jesus you are a sinner. Have full faith that His blood pays off all of your sins and accept His gift of everlasting life. You will now be with Him forever in heaven. God bless.

  10. It fascinates me too. It just seem so right.
my mum is a mormon and she thinks it wrong but I don’t care.
so just do what you want.

  11. You are inquisitive, that isn’t wrong….Leave the Ouija alone! I have family members and friends who has messed with it. You can Open Doors to some very unfriendly spirits. They can make you miserable. They cannot physically Hurt You—BUT, they can make you hurt yourself! The Tarot is about as bad—I know by my experience! It got a
hold of me…..I know others who have no problem with the Tarot…but, it might bother them later! I would stay away from it, too. It is your business….BUT DON’T EVEN TOUCH THE OUIJA!

  12. I’m going to assume you are very, very young if your still playing with Ouija Boards ’cause most kids grow out of that around Junior High. Don’t worry, your teenage years will be very, very angsty (most likely) and you’ll question all the authority given by your parents – not just their religious beliefs. Don’t worry, though, it’s a good time. Then you’ll go to college (hopefully. If you don’t eff up highschool too terribly) and you’ll figure out who you really are in life away from your parents and where your going. Which is also a good time. Try to be reasonable with the alcohol consumption (effing up college is worse than effing up highschool) and remember that although pot isn’t really a gateway drug, it’s not going to do you any favors on your midterms.

  13. u really should stay away from that stuff. just dont forget ur faith.
o and for Noah , sex isnt wrong. having sex w/ random ppl is and having sex when u r not married to that person is wrong,

  14. I was raised Catholic too and I was also very interested in that sort of stuff. My advice to you would be yes, you can do research on that stuff, but do NOT part take in any of it, especially Ouija boards. Ask anyone who is of a New Age faith-they will tell you that they know first hand how evil they can be. I don’t believe that it is sinful, but I do think that you will tamper with something that you are obviously not ready to battle.

  15. Go for it,…. the church makes up a bunch of stuff to keep the flock in fear knowing this will keep them close…… dont be a sheep, choose your own path… search out your own way, trust your instincts

  16. There is nothing wrong with educating yourself about alternate beliefs and rituals.
However I would be very wary about basing my belief system on a board game trademarked by “Parker Brothers” – the same people responsible for Monopoly, Cluedo, Risk and Trivial Pursuit.

  17. No. It’s your intellect. Do with it what you wish. Don’t let others dictate to you what interests you should or should not have.

  18. Not only is it wrong, it’s also dangerous.
The bible warns about dappling in the occult…it opens access to the demons, and they are not nice to play with. They are out to steal your very life.

  19. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being fascinated by the occult. I am, as well.
As for it being ‘wrong’, that’s a point of view. Your parents are religious, so they will probably think it is wrong, that it goes against God, but who are we to decide what God wished? Perhaps God wanted the occult to be fascinating. It’s only evil if you think it is, for God’s will is interpreted differently for each man and woman.

  20. Young People Ask . . .
Dabbling in the Occult–What’s the Harm?
ARE teenagers really interested in the occult? A group of researchers sought to find out by surveying students in 115 middle and secondary schools. The survey yielded these revealing statistics: Over half of those surveyed (54 percent) said that they are interested in the occult and the supernatural, while a quarter (26 percent) said that they are “very interested.”
Researchers for the University of Alaska at Anchorage write: “Newspaper and magazine stories about the supposed explosion of satanic cult activity . . . have proliferated in recent years.” Experts say that there is little hard evidence to support claims of widespread Satanism among youths. Even so, there is no question that many young ones are interested in aspects of Satanism and the occult, even if such interest is only casual.
‘What’s the harm in dabbling in the occult?’ some youths might therefore ask. In answer, let’s look at some of the ways youths get involved in the occult in the first place.
    The Lure of the Occult
An article in U.S.News & World Report observes that “children and teenagers today have access and exposure to a bewildering–often disturbing–array of imagery and information that would have been unimaginable even 20 years ago.” Curiosity drives many youths to read books and magazines, watch videos, or surf Web sites on the Internet that feature occult material.
According to BBC News Online, popular TV programs that feature witchcraft and vampirism “encourage an interest in witchcraft among children, it is claimed.” Some heavy-metal music likewise features violent or demonic themes. Columnist Tom Harpur wrote in the Toronto newspaper The Sunday Star: “I must issue the strongest possible warning about what is happening [in music]. . . . I have never seen anything so depraved. The songs are obsessed with madness, possession, demons, blood, curses, violence of every kind, including rape, self-mutilation, murder, and suicide. Death and destruction, prophecies of doom, the denial of all that is good and the embracing of all that is hideous and evil–these are the themes.”
Does listening to such music really contribute to destructive behavior? It evidently did so in at least one case–that of a 14-year-old youth in the United States who stabbed his mother to death and then killed himself. The walls of his room were covered with posters of heavy-metal rock musicians. His father pleaded afterward: “Tell parents to watch what music their children listen to.” He said that the week before his son killed his mother, he kept singing a rock song “about blood and killing your mother.”
Then there are role-playing games, some of which allow participants to take on the role of sorcerers and other occult figures. Many of these games feature demonistic violence.
Nevertheless, the research organization Mediascope reports: “Studies show that the preference for heavy metal music may be a significant indicator for alienation, substance abuse, psychiatric disorders, suicide risks . . . or risk-taking behaviors during adolescence, but music is not the cause of these behaviors. It is hypothesized that teenagers already struggling with those issues may be attracted to heavy metal music, because the lyrics express their own troubled feelings.”
Researchers may not all agree on the dangers of listening to satanic music. But could a diet of videos, music, or games that highlight violence or self-destruction be anything but poisonous? For Christians, however, dabbling in the occult presents an even greater danger.
    God’s View of the Occult
At 1 Corinthians 10:20, the apostle Paul warned Christians: “I do not want you to become sharers with the demons.” Just who are the demons, and why is it so dangerous to get involved with them? Simply put, the demons are former angels, who have chosen to follow Satan the Devil. Satan means “Resister” and Devil means “Slanderer.” According to the Bible, this former angelic son of God made himself a resister and a slanderer by choosing to rebel against God. In time, he enticed other angels to join him in his rebellious course. These allies thus became demons.–Genesis 3:1-15; 6:1-4; Jude 6.
Jesus called Satan “the ruler of this world.” (John 12:31) Satan and his demons have “great anger” over their impending destruction. (Revelation 12:9-12) Not surprisingly, those who have become involved with the demons have found them to be vicious. One woman in Suriname who grew up in a family that practiced spiritism saw firsthand how the demons “enjoy torturing their unwilling victims.” Getting involved with these cruel spirit creatures in any way is thus extremely dangerous!
For this reason, God commanded his ancient people, the Israelites, to avoid all occult practices. “Everybody doing these things is something detestable to Jehovah,” warns Deuteronomy 18:10-12. Christians were likewise warned that “those practicing spiritism” would meet destruction at God’s han

  21. It is wrong and very dangerous. You are messing with the devil and his property, and he will deceive you. I would burn the tarot cards, because it is sinful and evil. Walk away before you get sucked in by deception, or the enemy will take control of your life.

  22. There’s nothing wrong with dabbling in the occult, after all it’s fun and what has Jesus ever done for you? You’ve got nothing to loose.

  23. I would say it’s dangerous – spiritually speaking. I think to give your attention, time, effort, focus on the things of darkness is offering over to satan your devotion. Are you sure you want to do that? That is in part what Christ meant when He said “No man can serve two masters….” You can’t be on both sides of the line – you have to choose.
As interesting or fascinating at it appears and seems to be – it will lead you somewhere if you give it your attention and that place is NOT a good, positive, worthwhile, righteous place. Remember Satan has power too – don’t minimize that. He only has power over us when we give it to him through our actions. You’ve got to ask yourself Who’s team are you showing yourself to be on by your choices? THere are no fence sitters in the Lord’s Kingdom…..
…”Where your treasure is…there will your heart be also…”

  24. Not wrong but be careful. Tarot cards have no value whatsoever but ouija boards can be dangerous. Satan and his demons most definitely exist – I’ve felt their presence – and some of them are malevolent and if you try to summon a demon without naming a particular one you could get one of those. People have ended up being seriously mentally disturbed from that.
Good and evil are purely as defined by religion. There is no objective good or evil – if you think about it, evil in religion is purely what god says it is. But some spirits or demons can be damaging because they get pleasure out of it, and that can certainly be called evil because it’s not good to you.
Of course your parents will say anything occult is evil, because their religion tells them it is. And it is sinful because god defines what sin is and he said so. Sin, after all, just means anything god doesn’t like. But if god doesn’t exist, or he does exist but has no power whatsoever (as traditional Satanists like me believe from looking at the evidence), then the idea of sin has no meaning at all. Actually that’s why I respect atheists – they’ve looked at the evidence for god, found it is not convincing, and concluded there is no god. They just don’t have a connection to the spiritual side of things, which is far more complex than even Christianity gives it credit for. But god is a jealous god and doesn’t want you finding out the truth about the spiritual world – and therefore he calls any occult interest sinful.
Edit – satanist and Tim are, obviously, LaVeyan Satanists who believe that Satan doesn’t actually exist. They are essentially atheists who like the imagery and ritual.

  25. this is a natural reaction,YET BE WARNED!!!!!!! torot cards ouija boards, wicans, astrolgy all these things and more are ony tools of DEMONS to lure you into darkness! they promise power, wisdom, knowlage of the ages… yet only lie yes perhaps you will see some strange and amazing things this is only to hook you! i pray you will look to God He will show you the truth,CALL A PASTOR!!! in a local church (babtist, pentacostal…)PLEASE talk to a man of God befor they suck you so far into darkness you may not be able to get out! and remember JESUS shed His pure and inocent blood for YOU you can go to him anytime personaly you don”t need anyone else to talk to God! i pray for you

  26. There is no single answer to that, certainly such activities are forbidden by the Catholic Church but it is up to you to decide the that faith is actually right for you. It’s my belief that there is no single spiritual path that applies to everyone and that we must all find the one that works for us as individuals, so you might want to consider looking into not just the occult but also other faiths.
That said, I would like to point out that neither the Tarot nor the Ouija were invented as occult tools.
The Tarot was simply a specialized playing card deck used for certain Eastern European games that required an extra suit, they weren’t used for divination until the second half of the 19th century, and then primarily in areas like France or the U.K where the games had never caught on. Lack of familiarity with the reason for the extra suit made them look exotic and made it easy for a fortune teller at a fair to put on a good show.
The Ouija was invented as a North American parlor game and was patented in 1891 by Elijah Bond and Charles Kennard, the patent was sold to Parker Bros. games in the ’60s. The name and all the supposed occult history were invented as a marketing ploy.
No one was originally intended to take the things seriously and they only acquired popular recognition due to their use as props in early horror movies. The movies are also how people know that they are demonic and the spirits are evil, haven’t you noticed how many people in movies get possessed by the Devil that way?

  27. YES! wrong and extremely dangerous. Been there, done that. When dealing with Satan, we are just ‘babes in the woods’.
Have you ever wondered, why the fascination with the occult.
“We do not deal with just flesh and blood, but with principalities in high places…”
