In Jewish culture engaging in consensual sex is one of the ways to marry. So where did the concept come from?

  1. It seems to have more to do with politics than anything else.
I used to go to conservative churches that teach that abstinence crap, and I learned that the leaders of these churches actually crack jokes about 30 and 40 year-old virgins behind their backs. Now I just send my Christian friends to the site below which debunks the whole thing against premarital sex in the Bible. It covers same-sex lifestyles too. I hope it helps you.

  2. The concept?
Um, biology. Male and female want to get it on. That’s what happens to hormonal teenagers. Somehow animals have figured it out without getting married. People can too.
I don’t know what this has to do with Paganism. I’m a pagan and I don’t see the relation.

  3. um, man, woman..they were attracted to one another and had sex. why do so many feel they need to try and put some wild, crazy and astronomical meaning to the simple things

  4. Fornication (sex involving a person who is not married — that is, premarital sex) is a sin equally as serious as adultery.
I’m not sure where you get the idea that premarital sex is a Christian teaching.
I’m also not sure that Judaism teaches that fornication is permissible, either, but then, I’m not Jewish.

  5. Jews were anything BUT monogamous. Even the Bible is full of stories of men having multiple children with concubines… Keep in mind that Judaism considered having such concubines as moral and God-approved.

  6. We are told in the New Testament that to abstain from fornication
which is sex before marriage. Nothing pagan about it. just Bible.

  7. There is no such thing as premarital sex because organisms have sex. It’s a natural thing.
There is only post-marital sex. Pre-marital sex is a concept made up by religion.
