Is organized religion polluting the collective human consciousness with nonsense portrayed as truth?

  1. I see that you’ve bought into the anti-religion “talking points”. That is, instead of rational, courteous discussion, substitute mockery.

  2. I’m a recovering catholic, turned Pantheist ~ala Gangaji, Watts, Gurmukh, and others. I’m no fan of religion. But there is a credible social science statistical study, showing that “true believers” [they think they are privy to and following god’s will] develop behavioral habits which are pro-survival. Patience, discipline, pain tolerance, focus, single mindedness, and things like that. To me, these are dubious talents, the kinds of skills soldiers need for warfare. And much of our warfare comes from religions, doesn’t it? But it toughens them somehow, so it has social evolutionary advantages, and they may even produce more children than others.
So for the Social Darwinists, (which is bogus), religion is a wonderful thing. Those religious maniacs might end up inheriting the earth, after all. Or killing us all, in the attempt.
In other words, if it were only nonsense, there’d be nothing to worry about. Just another mistaken bunch of delusions. But to some of us, it is dangerous. It not only has tried to suppress science and many arts, but it tends to make nasty, miserable people. I’d prefer hedonism and utilitarianism.

  3. It all depends on what you comprehend as nonsense or truth!
I would talk to you more on this matter,” but in your case it would probably be a waste of your time” And mostly mine!
