Is daoism the same as taoism?

I have a homework about these chinese religions, but I don’t know if they are the same or if they are different, please help me.

  1. Yes, they are the same. When English speakers first had regular contact with the Chinese, they only roughly approximated Chinese words into English. Cultural sensitively has led to us moving to more accurate transliteration of Chinese words and sounds. Thus, Taoism became Daoism, Peking became Beijing, and chi became qi.

  2. they are the same. some ponounce the T hard so it sounds like a D.
    i heard that the proper way is Toaism, but i could be wrong.

  4. Yes, they are the same.
    The characters (Chinese has no letters) that make up the words are pronounced slightly differently depending on which dialect speaks them.
    For instance, the founder of Chinese communism was known alternately as Mao Tse Tung or Mao Zedong. Both are correct.
