Information about endorphins(?) crown-chakra sensation(?) (pleasent tingling head sensation)?

I was wondering what chemicals were involved with this kind of thing, like endorphins or adrenaline? Also hoping for an overview of what would happen if you tried to abuse this, symptoms that might crop up with more and more of whatever this is being dumped into your body (or whatever is going on).
Feels like someone playing with your hair but better, sometimes goes down my back or through the whole body. (not sure if crown-chakra sensation is it, but it was mentioned in another question)
For brownie points, if you could direct me to any discussion about audio cues from childhood video games and cartoons evoking this thing I’d appreciate it.
I could probably keep it going all night with enough audio variety, it would keep me awake and feeling great, but would it be harmful long term, like say overdosing on opiates(endorphins?)
Just curious, not worried.

  1. Endorphins are as powerful hormone-like substances produced in the brain that function as the body’s own natural painkillers. During exercise, there is a release of endorphins in the body that are capable of producing feelings of euphoria and a general state of well being. The feelings produced can be so powerful that they can actually mask pain.
Chakra sensations are hypothetical.Chakras are non-physical centres, so you need a non physical method to stimulate them. This is achieved by focusing your awareness in the area of a chakra and using your mind to manipulate it. You need a localised, mental opening effect in a chakra to stimulate it; this tearing open.
Pleasant tingling head sensation is similar.

  2. I started a Facebook group for this exact sensation – it ‘s called ‘Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response Group ‘. AKA ASMR – we ‘ve split the sensations into two groups in discussion: type A is a controlled experience (one you can illicit without outside influence), and type B is triggered externally (seeing, hearing, feeling something that causes it without you intending it to happen). There are a lot of us out there! Join up, add your experiences, get support from others who ‘get it ‘, for once, and help us compile stats as we work to build a case for clinical research (we ‘re very interested in documenting and understanding both the mental and physical aspects). We also have a list of triggers and trigger videos shared by the group. All theories on causes are welcome, and any information you can share about your own experience is very appreciated.

  3. I have been experiencing this senstion since childhood, in fact as long as I can remember. It is such a strong tingling sensation in my brain and is uncontrollable. Anyone looking at me during one of these episodes will notice my head nd upper part of my shoulders tremble. I am 48 years old and my 10 year old son has described this same thing hppening to him often just like myself. Funny thing is he is the first person I have ever known to also experience these sensations.
