Wicca has used magick from the beginning. Paganism has used magick since long ago. They believed in sacrificing food, animals, and sometimes yes humans… in order to keep the crops and such going each year. Prosperity was a big one. They also did it for finding their loved ones etc. Goes back a long way.
Do you actually mean magick (as per Crowley’s definition), or do you mean “magic”, and you’ve added a k for cutsy effect?
Wicca is less than a century old, and it has always involved something called “magic.” This magic is not the same magic that Wicklets like to talk about today, burning candles with the expectation of becoming wildly popular or making money or (heaven forbid) flying, teleportation, time travel, or any other abject nonsense.
Wicca has not been around long enough to be described as existing in different time periods.
How are you defining magick?
Intentional action has been in there from the beginning. Crap like burning the name of the one who broke your heart on a piece of paper with three drops of rose otto and six of rubbing alcohol, however, has never really been a part of Wicca.
Magick and Wicca and so closely intertwined that is not feasible to have one without the other.

The two have been closely intertwined ever since Gerald Gardner first started writing about Wicca.
