I'm looking for something like meditation or something of the sort to calm me down. Any advice?

I have a bit of a temper, and I recently realized that it’s not a good thing. I’m looking for something like meditation or yoga to help me work on staying clam and collected. Any advice, or sites to help me out?

listen to some music that is soft, calming and slow.
I recommend this band called The Hush Sound. They have this really relaxing song called “Echo”. It’s really slow for most of the song, but it speeds up at the end.

Meditation technique
Most of our problems stem from the mind.
Situations are what they are, but our mind puts a whole new spin on it, often for the worse.
This leads to a lot of the pain we feel, and being consumed by the pain we act from it, hurting those we care about.
This is true for all people in all positions of life, except babies.
So rather than be controlled by the mind, we should learn to control it.
It is hard to directly do so rather we can control its most obvious manifestation, the breath.
You’ll note that when you are very concentrated you won’t breath as much, or when angry shallow and rapidly.
How to control the breath.
Inhale and as you do pay attention to the column of air entering your right nostril(air enters both sides, but focus on the right side for now).
Exhale and feel the column exit on the left side(air exits both sides, but pay attention to the left).
Inhale through the left nostril, exhale through the right(same as previous steps).
Inhale and feel the air in both nostrils rise to the top of your nose like an inverted ‘V’, then force it all out in one breath.
This counts as one cycle.
You can go up to 100 in a day, and make a game of this.
If you lose track of the count restart.
As you get better you’ll notice your breathing slowing down.
Once you slow down enough, the mind slows down, to the point you can feel a space between thoughts.
As you advance further you’ll learn to identify yourself with that peace, not your painful past nor the vices you had.
Good luck.

1… Classical Music ( not too loud )
2… Go for a walk in a pleasant environment.
3… Think about the repercussions if your temper got out of control ?
4… How many lives would you have ruined ?
5… Go to Anger Management Therapy.
6… You have admitted it, that is a good start.

Meditation is holistic relaxation excercises.
Since civilized societies began to emerge, meditation has evolved into a structured practice. Although there is not a lot of recorded information dealing with the history of meditation, its roots can be traced back to ancient times.
Some meditation experts suggest thinking of your mind as a glass of muddy water and meditation helps bring clarity. Many forms of meditation result in the clearing of one’s mind.

Yoga is a good way to relax. I suggest that you take classes before attempting to do it at home, because of the potential to injure yourself.
Meditation is helpful as well. You can do it at home without guidance, but it is nice to be with a group of people so that you can ask questions and relay experiences. Zen Meditation in Plain English by John Daishin Buksbazen is a good reference.

The mediation mechanism is well explained in the ‘China Falun Gong’ book. The effects and advantages are discussed in details in the Zhuan Falun Lecture. Both books and meditation demonstration video are free to download from the URL listed below. If you need any help, contact a local practitioner in your area for free instructions.
Falun Gong was found in 1992 by Master Li Hongzhi in China. About 100 million followers like the practice in over 80 countries worldwide. Falun Gong is an ancient practice for the body, mind, and spirit based upon the universal principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance. Falun Gong consists of five sets of powerful exercises.
Falun Gong, Tibetans, other Buddhists, and Daoists have been persecuted in China. The most offensive human right violation is the organ harvesting from the Falun Gong practitioners in China. Can you kindly sign a petition to stop persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China, please ?

…both are by Al Perhacs, expert in the field who lives not too far from me in Ohio. Check his blogs, too, linked off those sites for even more help. He give out free MP3s, videos and other cool content.
